2014 Z51 A6s - fairly bulletproof cars?
I'm shopping used C7s and I think I am fairly set on a 2014 Z51 A6 but also considering a 2015 Z06 A8. With all the A8 issues, I am really hesitant to go that route. Planning on using it for a semi-DD. Are there any known issues on the '14 Z51s I should be looking out for? Thanks in advance for the help!

There are no A8 issues in the Z that I am aware of. Stingray has had quite a few, but the Z is beefier and seems immune.
Make sure you drive a Z before you plunk down the cash for a Z51. Both fine cars but quite different.

I researched all years Stingrays and also noticed that the '14 Stingray was the safest year on automatic transmission , I got myself a clean Z51 with the A6. I'm very satisfied with my deal, no regrets.

I've had my early build '14 A6 vert for 3 1/2 years. It's my DD. It's been bulletproof with zero issues.

My 2014 A6 Z51 VERT was a great car but my 2017 A8 Z06 VERT is a better car!

Some of us on here theorize that the Z06 A8 has less issues simply because it spends less time in AFM. It will fail the same way but take significantly longer to fail.

It just keeps on driving, with no issues and only one recall. 2014 A6. You will never be sorry unless the flat bottom steering wheel (2015 addition) means a lot to you. Enjoy the 2014 they are bullet-proof.

My 2014 is performing flawlessly. 20,000+ miles.

It's ironic everybody wanted the A8, but it turns out the A6 is the better transmission.

OP, whatever car you buy, be sure to review the GM service record on their computer. Be sure it's not a problematic car and that the remainder of the warranty is still intact.
I bought a used, CPO 2014. It's a great, problem free car. However, during my four month search I found several 2014s that were buybacks and others that had problems including some A6 issues. Generally, the A6 is a sound, bullet proof transmission, but, like any transmission, there are a few that are the exception. You want to review the paperwork to be sure the car you buy is one of the many, problem free 2014s.
