PTM question ...
I've seen videos of ppl accessing different modes by pressing the traction control button twice on Track Mode. And a screen opens and it gives them the option of choosing between dry, sport 1, sport 2, and race.
It never worked every time I tried it. I've checked the RPO codes on my car. And I've got the Z51 package,
FE4 (magnetic selective ride control), and B4Z ( performance traction management).
Am I missing something? Am I doing something wrong? Or was this option not available on 2014 models?
Thx I appreciate all your help ...
Do you have both traction and stability control warning lights come on when you press the button twice? You should.
I pressed it twice. And the tc off symbol turned on.
I kept pressing it. And nothing happened.
Then I held the tc button to also turn off stability control off. Then pressed it twice. And still nothing.
You guys think it might be broken?
Thx

The other thing that's weird about that display is I don't see a DSC warning light.

Interesting, and first time I've heard that. I also have a '14, but it was one of the last built in 7/14, so it would have had the update you're referring to. That also might explain why he has no DSC warning light.
However, first things first, I'd like to view the normal Track display to see if [PTM] "Wet" shows up in the center display after pressing the button twice.

Rotate the dial until it says Tr
SIT THERE DO NOTHING FOR 3 SECONDS
Push button once
SIT THERE DO NOTHING FOR 2 SECONDS
Press button again
The delays are important but not naturally placed. You're used to double-clicking and they have some weird "two pushes in a time period with a delay between" expectation.
Also tricky is that once the submenu comes up, rotate the dial to select but DO NOT PRESS AGAIN. Just leave it highlighted. Pressing again will take you back out of the menu.

I made sure I had the black shocks with the cables on top. And I double check the RPO codes next to the battery. And everything matched.
Can I go to any Chevy dealership to get this update? Or can a tuner like diablo sport do it?

You mentioned "I have to press the button for like 3 secs for stability control to also turn off..."
When you go into Track mode and push and hold the button for more than about 5 seconds, both the Traction Control and Active Handling (StabiliTrak) lights come on, indicating that EVERYTHING is OFF!! All the nannies are off, and you don't have the great PTM feature that will predictively manage your power at track-out.
I think that's what you're doing when you hold the button down. When you turn ALL the nannies off, the TC and AH lights will both be on, but if you turn the console **** you won't go into any of the PTM modes (Wet, Dry, Sport 1, etc.) - you'll just go to the other regular driving modes like Sport, Tour, etc.
So....if you want the PTM modes, rotate the **** to Tr (Track mode), then push the button twice. You'll see both the TC and AH lights come on, but you'll also see the DIC display the Wet PTM mode, which can be changed to other PTM modes by rotating the console ****.

When in Track mode, two quick presses are all that's required to enter PTM if the system is operating properly. No delay is required. There's nothing "tricky" about it at all, and two button presses in the amount of time it takes you to quickly say "1,2" puts you in PTM mode. To get out of PTM one quick button press puts you back in regular Track mode.
From the 2014 C7 manual (GS and Z06 are the same):
Performance Traction
Management (Z51 with
Magnetic Selective Ride
Control)
Performance Traction Management
integrates the Traction Control,
StabiliTrak, and Selective Ride
Control systems to provide
improved and consistent
performance when cornering. The
amount of available engine power is
based on the mode selected, track
conditions, driver skill, and the
radius of each corner.
This light is on when the vehicle is
in the Performance Traction
Management Mode.
In order to select this optional
handling mode, the vehicle mode
must be Track. Then QUICKLY press
the TCS/StabiliTrak g button on the
center console TWO TIMES. PERF
TRAC 1 - WET ACTIVE HANDLING
ON displays in the DIC.
As BEZ06 said above, PTM doesn't automatically turn off TC or stability control even though the lights are on. It depends upon which PTM mode you are in. The chart below shows the status of all systems when in the various PTM modes. As you can see, in PTM/Wet nannies are full on. By the time you get to PTM/Race, they are pretty much off. The in-between modes have varying degrees of TC and stability control still active.
If you're holding the button down, that's not PTM mode, and you are turning everything off.

Best that I can remember, when my PTM went out, it behaved exactly as the OP describes...nothing happened when the button was hit twice other than turning off the traction control. The issue came on without warning. Worked fine the first day, and the next day, just refused to come on. There were no warning lights displayed. I was able to complete the weekend by holding the button down for 30 seconds and turning everything off.
