OK, so I'm cleaning the vette today and I come across this crack in the paint on my passenger door. Hasn't been hit and is garage kept. It's directly in line with the curve on the inside of the door.
On one visit to the factory, I saw two workers trying the "adjust' the fit on a painted targa top, on the assembly line. They were hitting it pretty hard with a rubber mallet.
Not saying an 'adjustment' was made to your car's door at the factory, but a possibility, and possible that is what caused a crack in your paint.
That just sucks and needs too be fixed. Good luck with the warranty repair!
Should not need luck, IMO! From the shape of that crack(s) it's not in the paint it's in the composite panel! A materials defect. Hard to create with a hit from something, IMO.
I had a similar crack from a deer hit, but that hit hard enough to crack the inner door. I can definitely see how a rubber mallet would cause something like that.
ooph. sorry to hear about that OP. and that's even worse that you say it was probably NOT there prior to the dealer visit. Someone should chime in with body experience and have a clue as to what could've caused this crack...
I could swear it wasn't there before I went to the dealer for an oil change about 3 weeks ago, but I haven't detailed it in a while.
Originally you said the car had not been hit and is garaged, giving the impression that the car has never been out of your sight. Now you say it's been at a dealer recently, and possibly not always in your sight.
The car could have been hit at the dealers, since it was not in your garage. Correct?
It was only in for an oil change and software recall. Looked at it this morning and it looks like something was in between the door and fender when the door was closed causing the door edge to flex.

If it was damaged by the dealer, don't expect GM to do anything about it. It's between you and the dealer, and since it's been awhile since it was at the dealer, I doubt they are going to do anything either, as they can(correctly) say that YOU might have damaged to car and not them, as you didn't point out the damage immediately.
I'm still not understanding exactly where OP's crack is, but...
There were a few C6's that had a crack in the door believed to have come from the door being blown fully open hard on a windy day, or just thrown open too vigorously by a dummy. Any chance of that?

Maybe a wind gust caught the door and forced it hard against the full open stop....
I think this is right ... when you had car in for service ... they probably had it on lift and backed car into the lift post with door open .. the stress cracks seem to be in the right place from door being forced open too far. My dealer does a full walk-around with owner standing there ... did they do that and not see crack ?
I never understand what people do not just take 3 minutes and take pics of their cars when given to a dealer , it protects both and costs nothing ...just sayin
