I searched and found that the threads for the C7 tow hooks are m20 x 2.5. I want to find a less expensive alternative to the GM and other ones that cost $100 or more. There are many basic m20 x 2.5 tow hooks available for far less.
What are the lengths for the front and rear tow hooks, measured from the tip of the threads to the base of the tow hook, closest to the threads?
Also, could I just buy a tow hook long enough for the front, and use it for the "shorter" rear application if needed?
It is known as uplift. The cost of the part purchased from the supplier times a standard multiplier representing the cost of receiving, inventorying and all other in house related work related to bringing the part in and sending it to shipping. Easily several hundred percent multiplier plus profit and shipping.
I hate to ask but are you looking for one because you track the car or do you just want one to fill the space in the tray above the battery...like me. A better name for these things would be a "track hook" as they don't really work so great for routine towing and getting the car on a flatbed if that is what you have in mind.

I just want to have one to keep in the storage bin in the hatch in case I need to get towed. Amazing they don't include this. They included them on every other car I have.
They don't work well for getting towed as they are not centered on the car so many tow truck operators will not use them. While the winch on the truck is usually centered, hooking to the tow hook will pull the car off-center and drag it at an angle onto the flatbed. I have seen two C7s that needed to be placed on a flatbed and each time the operator refused to use the tow hooks. You might be better served with a set of hooks that you can secure in the holes for your front jacking pucks and a good strap to connect them so the tow truck can pull you straight and level onto the bed. While the operator of the truck should have this stuff already, might be better to be safe than sorry.
As I have mentioned, I purchased a tow hook just because I hate having an open slot where a tool should be but I don't expect it to be of any use if I need an actual tow truck to bring it back home for me. I do not see a location for you; however, if you are out here in SoCal and close to me, I can meet you someplace and give you the one in the photo. When you order them you get two and for folks like us that are not tracking their cars, we really only need one for the tray anyway.
