Default This is why I love the Grand Sport

30 minute session running hard in Texas, coolant temps never top 214, no heat soak (intake temp was about air temp all day long) engine oil (not tracked) never went north of 235, maybe 240 at most and trans temp never budged from dead center on the gauge (sorry, don't have a number because GM doesn't believe in numbers on their gauges). I could run out there all day long in stock trim (upgraded fluid and pads, obviously. Especially on cup tires). My 2016 stingray definitely ran much hotter in a shorter period of time.

Garmin Virb just does it on its own. I didn't change anything.

Does it pull the info from an OBDII plug in dongle? Does it link to the car via Bluetooth or WiFi? Thanks

yup, OBDII and bluetooth. Pretty simple once you get it setup.

yup. Suction cup kinda sucks if it's now squeaky clean is my only real complaint.

Why would the Stingray run hotter? I know the GS/Z06 grille allows for a lot more airflow (40% iirc). That's the only difference I can think of.

Z51 or Base? Dry Sump vs No Dry Sump. More Air Cooling Vents usable on Z51 vs Base. Bigger scoops and airflow on GS vs Stingray.

Well the 17 has more cooling, but iirc the grand sport has a bigger transmission cooler too.

Eh, kinda. I have no idea why I wasn't using the whole track, inbound or outbound going into the tight hairpin. I have a lot of time pick up there. Those are all some spooky blind turns/crests.

This is much better work, at a track I know well. I still screwed up turn 4 pretty damn good and overshot the first turn too (which doesn't seem to hurt my times for some reason). BTW: This is on PSS, the OP video is on cup tires, which I drool over.

Ooh, how I miss Cresson (esp. the 3.1 course)! Fun, not too fast, really, REALLY challenging for me!

Have a good one,
Mike

Thanks for sharing that video. It's amazing how different the lines are for a car versus a roadracing motorcycle. I kept saying, "No, you're supposed to be over there" until I remembered you were in a car, not a bike.

At the track I actually set my gauges to Tour mode so I get the digital (numeric) summary. Ironic, but I find Tour is the best Track mode for the dash.

You might be talking about the actual gauge, but I don't have one of those (I get a big ol' BOOST gauge instead) hence the need for the center display.

The track display and performance screen works awesome on the 18's.

Nice that it runs cool. The Z definitely runs hotter, even my 18 M7. I haven't reviewed each lap yet, but this week on the track I saw oil 272, coolant 233, and trans 239. That's at less than 90F ambient. However, I am going to say it is because you were sandbagging. LOL.
