Color match painting the rear bumper

Color match painting the rear bumper
Has anyone considered or actually painted the rear bumper the same color as the car. My C-5 has the entire rear the same navy blue as the rest of the car.
I'm adding a spoiler to my base Admiral Blue C-7. Since the dealer needs to drop the bumper to install the spoiler, it occurred to me to look into painting the lower half of the rear, blue instead of the stock black.
Don't want to buy any trouble, whatcha think?

Found this pic on the web... I don't hate it, but can't say I'm a big fan either.

I like the stock black myself; adds a 'bad ***' look in my opinion.

It's been done, and based on feedback, most think it looks better as designed (with the lower portion in Carbon Flash Metallic). I'll try to find a really old thread with this done on Torch Red.

Unfortunately, the pictures in the thread appear to have been victims of Photobucket's policy change (money grab). The thread has a poll (looks good one color, does not look good) and the outcome was 31% looks good, 69% does not look good. This was also way back in Dec 2013 when there was considerable debate about the rear of the C7. Opposition to the design of the rear end has pretty much disappeared, so I would expect an identical poll today would be even more overwhelmingly negative to the single color.

As mentioned, a few have done it, and it looks OK. Obviously a black C7 will give you an idea, albeit the bumper is painted Carbon Flash, but pretty close nonetheless.

As a black C7 owner, I find it interesting how it looks great on black, but I don't care for it on any other color.

Here's the back half of a C7 of a different shade of red covering the entire back. I think the black lower portion would have looked a lot better.

Interesting photos. I think it looks hideous on Torch Red, looks OK on the Crystal Red Metallic (or whatever that metallic red is) and looks pretty good on the Laguna Blue.

I have a Twlight Blue design Edition. AW with blue interior and navy top. My hood, fender and behind headrest pieces are painted Shark Gray. The black rear valance looks TOTALLY out of place as it's the only black piece on the car. I'm going to paint it AW or Shark Gray (as it should have come from BG). The valance can be removed without removing the complete bumper.

I didn't like the black nearly as much until I got the stage 2 spoiler.

Nope, that's not it. The original Torch Red one back in Dec 2013 had the vents painted in red and it looked even worse than the one above with the black vents.

I love this place. You guys come through quick with photos and past polls, impressive.
I'll keep it stock, the way Chevy intended it. Was hesitant anyway, had a piece painted at the dealer on my C-5, stock paint still looks great after 17 years, the piece that was painted 4 years ago looks really bad.
Thanks for the help

What I really want to do is paint match the FRONT of the spoiler. The rear can stay black, but I want it to be body colored when you look at it from the front. My Z51 was like this and I like it way better than my GS.

That looks great (not a fan of the sticker or the exhaust though)
The real problem with the rear is the tail lights just have too much going on. Red and white and black around them and vents and etc. Your car really cleans that up. Nice job.
