Did you use any particular type of paint so it would be less likely to wear off over time?
One good thing about the old ball type **** is that it is solid so it will never really wear out. In the case of Hurst, the emblem is cast into the ball, not painted.

^^^ I did not. I just used rattle can, roughed it up with scotch bright, some thick coats of clear and went to work. I will say however, the way I shift, I don't touch that area, but YMMV.

It really looks great, a sweet touch, BUT knowing myself I would avoid touching it excessively, dirty hands, etc.....if you're not as bad as I then pat yourself on the back, nice touch.....
