So we had a few cool days. 70-80 def F outside. Great for driving. I figured I'd turn AC off, roll windows down and listen to the beautiful exhaust notes. You'd think cooler outside temps blowing thru would keep cabin temps comfortably..... No such luck. It seems radiant heat thru floor warms things up quite well. Not a major issue, but I really don't like sweating into the nice suede inserts.
Just wondering if you all have experienced the same? At what outside air temp have you found comfortable to run A/C off? Could recent addition of x-pipe be adding to heat? Would rapping x-pipe help?

FWIW, would think the aftermarket "X" pipe, as it is called, would NOT make it hotter as CATs operate hotter than pipes (all Vettes actually have an X pipe and have had for years. The aftermarket products eliminate the secondary CATs prior to the "X.")
Would think the driveshaft tunnel that has the two exhaust pipes is a source of heat as it is made from thin aluminum and little room for much insulation. So perhaps wrapping the pipes with exhaust wrap would help.
Can't help with temp, my AC/heat is always on. Occationally in December and January will take the roof off but in Spring pine polen gets into everything! We also have a lot of humidity in summer!
You should try riding in a C6 with long tubes. I could drive around in 30 degree weather with the windows down no problem at all.
The x-pipe may be making a difference but the the C7 has way better insulation than the C6 underneath so that is a strong maybe.
A lot of the heat you are feeling is actually coming up from the exhaust manifolds into the windows. Stand next to the car while it is idles, it's pretty dang hot. Also make sure to have your air set to recirculate, if not you are getting hot air coming from the engine through the vents.
Are you sure its not a combination of the floor and heat passing through the vents. Without the A/C, the HVAC vents blow pretty warm air even on cool days.

Are you turning your blower completely off? In my ZO6 the ventilation air is considerably warmer than ambient. (As with many cars, but worse.) Yes, I perceive some radiant heat also, but usually am comfortable with windows open and ventilation off.
Joel, I'm experiencing the same thing, the HVAC does seem to blow warm even when the outside air temp is on the cool side, as others have noted. I've only had my C7 about 6 weeks and am still trying to find a nice balance for cool air w/o needing the AC on. I'll try the recirculate idea next...
In my convertible with the top down, I turn the system completely off, and it's very comfortable. Turning the fan dial completely to left shuts the entire system down.
Thanks for the feedback. I will definitely have to check the fan setting with A/C off. Seems to be always blowing warm/hot air. I will also see if switching to recirculating provides any help.

Joel, as Foosh says this may do the trick. When you rotate the dial counter clockwise a pop up will show the system is off.
And, every Corvette I have owned will heat up inside. Just the nature of the beast. Low riding, and a packed engine compartment that builds heat causing the air in the system to get warm is part of the cause. My C3's ('72 Roadster being the worst) were terrible, and when stopped the heat from under the car would boil over the sides into the cabin. Both my C6's could heat up your "Swanson's frozen Chicken Dinner" quickly if placed in the console.

it will also default to the last setting. put it all the way to cold then turn off the fan and it will only let in cool air through the natural venting. If you turn up the temp before turning off you will get hot air trickling in.
