the paw works on the automatic but the parking brake being set before you release the brake pedal removes the stain on the trans when on a really steep hill. Making it easier to get out of park sometimes.

you don't need it on an auto trans car,,they have a thing called ''PARK'' ,that uses a pawl to lock tranny so it cant roll
Yes, but relying on the pawl, particularly on an incline, puts a lot of pressure on it, which causes wear and tear. It can seize or break over time. If it breaks it will roll. On most auto trans, it is a relatively small piece of metal.
It's silly not to use the parking brake since it requires so little effort.
I really wish it would auto set on the M7's because if you fail to set the parking brake when you park then when you get back into to take off again the memory seats fail to move to position #1.

Works great until you have a malfunction in the transmission and find your vehicle has rolled into the street. Woke up one morning and found my Duramax which had been in park had rolled from my driveway into the street. The Duramax is about double the weight of the corvette - but I'd rather not find that a corvette has rolled into the street after that morning. I always try to remember to set the parking brake no matter what transmission the car has.
