If you have the means, buy it! I have been holding off for a couple of years too, because I have a specific financial plan and I am going to stick to it until spring 2018. But if you have the budget for it, there's no need to wait.
Go for it, I am 66 years old, & I would by my Z all over again if I had to. When you get into that Z & start the engine & hear that exhaust, punch the throttle, you will wonder "why did I wait so long."
Searching and thinking about it for 2 years yet can not bring yourself to pull the trigger.
Sounds like you really rather look than spend the bucks to own a Vette.
Time to move on to your next dream.
Life isn't measured by the number of breaths, but by the number of times your breath is taken away. (Like when you open up your new Z06 on a country road and feel yourself pushed back into those Competition seats)

I agree with this 100%.
The guy stated that he found exactly what he wanted. So, not buying it means he doesn't want it, or, doesn't have the financial means to do the deal. Which makes no sense to even mention it to others then.

If it's exactly what you want get it. It's an amazing car. I started seriously looking in April and was wanting 15% off the right build. It never came and with the plant shutting down I knew it would be slim pickings. Pulled the trigger on a 17 Z06 last month and absolutely love it. My ONLY regret is I didn't get it in the spring time so I could enjoy it more this year. So again I will tell you to buy it as life is too short.
Not much info to go by, nor how old you are, or anything else.....so my two cents would be this: If you have been making steady contributions to your retirement (get in early as compounding needs plenty of time to work it's magic) and the car is well within your means, there's no reason not to buy.
I waited until I was fifty to buy my C7 because I plan to retire at 57. That requires sacrifice. The C7 is only my second brand new car. For me I'm glad I waited because now money should not be a problem and I have a couple of decades before getting in/out will be difficult. The gym helps a lot with that, too.
If you can afford it, go for it. My Vette is like a rolling therapy session every weekend I drive it!
I've said it before and it bears saying again...you have zero compassion. The guys looking for camaraderie and a little assurance from current Vette owners that regret isn't the second emotion after joy when buying these cars. Lighten up a bit would ya.
Thanks for the character assessment, but after two pages of this everyone, if you have't noticed, is giving pretty much the same message as I did; Buy it or don't. Feel free to put me on ignore, but a quick look at our comparative stats and you will see that overall, members feel I've provided a solid contribution over the same period of time. Take a look. Basically, one way or another, people are saying to stop dithering and buy the car. What else does anyone expect? Buy a Miata? People here are really good at answering specific questions about the corvette. Someone always knows the answer. But the quality of the answers depends on the quality of the question and asking whether one should buy a corvette is rather silly on a corvette forum. If that demonstrates a "lack of compassion" then so be it.
1) Price. 71K is allot of money. If your home is mostly paid for or you have enough to semi easily lose then go down
2) Theres a chance of mid engine coming out in a year or a new A10 (if looking for autos. ( to me that is worth waiting for even if its the new Trans.. also better fitting paint and panels.
Next year the Supra might be out. Porsche, gt500. If GM doesn't step up next year it will be an epic fail. They let the Camaro guys get way too close this year. Its winter time here, can waiting 6 more months kill ya? haha
I need some motivation. I have been looking for just the right C7 for going on two years now. I started out looking at 2014 2LT Z51s and graduated into looking at Z06s. Now that I found my perfect car, I can't sign on the dotted line. I found a certified used 2016 2LZ Z06 with comp seats and negotiated down to $71,500. Someone tell me that I'm a moron and it is only money.
AltrdPrcptn, Thanks for passing on that 2014, Z51, 2LT two years ago. I bought it 2 years ago and absolutely love it. It's been a blast to drive and gets compliments wherever I take it.
Good luck with your search.
I've had 37 Corvettes since I was 18 years old. I can honestly tell you that none of them were easily affordable. The want was always up there and always found a way to get what I wanted. I now have an '18 Z06 after trading in a '17 GS. Get what you want and don't settle for less!
