Having just purchased my C7 on Friday, I'm finding that the storage in the driver's door is nearly useless as anything like sunglasses cannot be extricated easily. If I leave them near the cup holders, every time I hit the gas they end up flying backwards (which is pretty cool, but not practical). My question is about aftermarket storage solutions. Does anyone make anything that fits between the seatbacks? I'm talking about behind the console lid. Or any other solutions that you've found or have? I did order a ProClip for my phone, so that should be OK. Any advice is appreciated.
At my desk at work so I can't give a picture, but the Chevy cargo net designed to go in the trunk can be mounted behind the seats on the hooks placed there for the cargo privacy covers. I picked up a second one and put it there.

That's a great idea, I actually have an extra. When I bought the car, it had a Weathertech cargo liner in it, covering up the storage hatch in the back. When I looked in there (after ordering a net on Amazon), I found the privacy cover and the net. Thanks!
Have you tried the "secret compartment" behind the nav screen? That's where my sunglasses go along with occasionally my wallet. I have my USB stick in there and some papers.
I have never used the storage compartment in the door.

I have. It's handy for sure, and that may be what I end up doing, it's just not terribly convenient (especially when I've already shut off the car and remember them in there...) Thanks!

Huh? I don't understand what having the car shut off has to do with anything. The compartment works if the car is on or off. The only time it doesn't work is when you have the car in reverse (not sure how an automatic works) - which is totally stupid.

It's not stupid because if you are in reverse you should be looking at the screen to see if a child is behind your car, not reaching for sunglasses.

More about me being an idiot and not remembering them in there than anything...
Man Woodson and Mulligandog you sure are unnecessarily touchy!
When I said that it was totally stupid I was not speaking about you Mulligandog. Nor was I complaining that I can't reach for my sunglasses when in reverse Woodson. You both really need to stop jumping to invalid conclusions.
Mulligandog, you said "it's just not terribly convenient (especially when I've already shut off the car and remember them in there...)". My response was "What does having the car shut off have to do with anything?". I mean you can still open the compartment when the car is turned off so why do you say "especially when I've already shut off the car and remember them in there..."?
I think it's stupid because if the real purpose of not allowing the screen to go down when in reverse is to avoid possibly hitting a child then wouldn't that naturally and logically extend by the same rational to the front camera? But it doesn't. When you have the front camera on you can open the compartment with no problems. So is that saying that you need to watch for kids but only when backing up?!? I mean they couldn't possibly be playing in front of your car now could they?

To me, THAT is stupid. YMMV.
Kids in front must only be 12" tall or laying down. Vision out the back is almost completely blocked unless they're teenagers

I highly doubt that's the official answer. I believe much more that there are laws about backup cameras because they came first and politicians passed laws. Now front cameras are becoming more common and like lots of things, government has yet to catch up.
And we all know that it's just fine by the government (and I guess you) to roll over any kids that just happen to be lying down in front of your car...

No offense, but the front camera is to keep our low hanging cars from scraping over parking curbs, etc. & it was about time. I have used my last 2 C7 frt. cameras for its purpose many times. By the way have you seen any BLACK helicopters buzzing your house? That's all I got-I'm out of here!

I know what the front cameras are for. That has nothing to do with my point. Can it not be as easily stated that the rear camera is so that you don't back into another car while leaving a parking space or not back into a tree? Both front and back cameras are there so that you don't hit something with your car, be it a tree behind you, a curb in front of you, a kid behind you or a kid in front of you.

Another totally irrelevant statement.
Actually, living in San Diego and not that far from Miramar I often see various non-commercial aircraft and helicopters of all kinds of colors. What's your point?

Just so we're clear, I wasn't being touchy, sometimes my sense of humor doesn't play well with the typed word. I was just saying that I shut off the car, get out and then say '****, I forget my ______ in the damn car'. I'm poking fun at myself because if I can't see what's back there I forget it (old man problems).
Luckily my daughter is 5'7" so no worries about her being picked up by the camera...but the neighborhood toddlers better watch out...
