Called buyer this afternoon and returned my call few hours later, he also works at same company in outside sales and is new and don't know much about him and he has viewed the corvette, twice and was happy, surprised that I accepted $65,000 offer
He said he was going to bank tomorrow, so we shall see how this emotional saga unfolds
Again that's for your insight and knowledge. I will update.

Why would he not just buy a new one for that price?
The guy said that; "He has to go to the bank tomorrow." Sounds like he doesn't have in place - how he's going to pay for it, now that his offer was accepted.
Love to see the look on his face when he finds out what that car's used price should be.
OP - should have asked for a deposit.

Wondering what happened...
Maybe he just loves the Shark Gray? Or, is your state one that doesn't have a use tax like we have here in California? (aka a tax on a transaction between private individuals, aka theft... sorry, that's for another forum!) So maybe buying a nice used Vette appeals to him if he doesn't have to pay sales tax?
I can't believe with all the resources out there, that someone could offer $15000+ more for your car than what it is worth! If he is going for a loan at the bank he might get educated real quick!

What's not to like about Shark Gray? Sexy meets bad ***! Can't buy one new and it's worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it. At least until a bank gets involved

A bank or cashier's check can also be no good. Go to the bank that issued the check with the buyer and confirm it is good. Do NOT sign over the title until the funds are actually in your account. I am very suspicious about this whole deal. I have first hand experience with a similar situation.

I agree, what's not to like about Shark Gray? If it hadn't been discontinued, it would have been the color I bought. I'm totally happy with Watkins Glen Gray, but I also love Shark Gray. I guess I'm just a shades of gray kind of guy...

What am I missing? #LOL!
I don't think you're missing much. The only possible reason, financially, that I can think of is what I speculated about earlier regarding sales tax. For example, here in the Peoples' Republik, sales tax on a new Vette in that price range is going to be upwards of $7K (same for a used one in that price range, btw) but in other states, they may not have a tax on a private party sale. All speculation on my part.

In NYS you pay sales tax on the amount of purchase price regardless of New or Used, Private party or otherwise. In my county in New York it is 8% of the purchase price. 65k purchase price would be $5200 when you register it. If you trade a car in on another you will pay tax on the difference. Even trade would be $0 tax.
