Default Max run. Is this normal??

2017 Z51 A8 Long Beach Red Convertible.
Yesterday I did a max all out run to 150Kph. Foot to the floor in Automatic.
1st to redline (backfire) 2nd to redline (backfire) 3rd to redline (backfire) to 4th gear and let off. Question, Is the backfiring normal, I assume I am hitting the fuel cuts off which in turn creates the backfire.
Any thoughts are appreciated.
PS It was a very impressive run and sound effects as noted by a semi driver at the next traffic light.

No it should not backfire. Maybe shift points need to be changed at the dealer.

Just a guess here but wonder if you hit the rev limiter which may have sounded like a backfire?

I thought the auto sounds like a gunshot shifting at WOT, no?

I.e., I think it's a feature, not a bug.

It's normal and not a backfire. It's the fuel cutoff.

Normal at WOT. It's a momentary shut off of fuel to facilitate faster shifts.

Music to my ears.

The noise you hear when auto tranny is shifting at WOT is normal. It sounds wicked.

Oh yeah. That very sound has sold many a Corvette. One of the extra features they don't tell you about which has impressed people far and wide. Personally, I just love it. Remember the rule, if you find yourself first at a traffic light, check around for cops then bark a few gears. As you glance in your mirrors you'll notice the herd way back. Pleased to have you as a member of the hammer club. Once you heard it, you're in!

I’ve ran full throttle in auto from 0 to 150+ more than a few times and I don’t ever remember hearing a pop between gears...

You weren't actually at WOT, then. All C7 autos (both A6 & A8) do this. Both in A and in M with paddles.

When “Performance Shift Active” pops up in your DIC, and your pipes are popping off out back between shifts, it’s not only normal, it’s a good thing.

^^^ That sounds so wrong.

The first time I heard the bark at WOT shift with my A8 I was showing off leaving a group of admirers. I was embarrassed thinking my car was messing up somewhere somehow. Now I know better and love to hear the bark occasionally. AND the rumbling gurgle on a downshift, braking against the engine, with rev match. Out of an open NPP exhaust. SO SWEET! These are the things daydreams are made of.

Top speed should be more like 300 kph ... and the crack during WOT shifts is normal .. even my M7 cracks when I have Rev match enabled and I shift near redline ...
