Default TPMS Problem

Even though all the tires have 30 psi (cold,) the TPMS light comes on and a "Service Tire Pressure Monitoring System" is displayed in the DIC. The first time it happened, I checked the tire pressure via the DIC and the right rear tire showed no pressure (just two dashes.) After about half an hour of driving, the TPMS light went out and the DIC indicated the right rear tire had 33 psi (the tire had, obviously, warmed up.) Shortly there after, the TPMS light came on again. This time, however, the DIC indicated the right front had zero pressure. The TPMS light has continued to come on and off randomly. What gives? Anybody else have the same issue? After searching this forum, I did find out how to manually reset the TPMS system, but the problem still persists.

Well, at least you know now it is an indication problem rather than an actual tire problem.
If it was always showing the same tire it probably would be a wheel sensor but with two different tires showing fault it is probably not the wheel sensor(s)
Next step would be to take it to the dealer and have them run a scan for a fault code.

The same thing happened with my C6. The dash would report -- and a few minutes later it was fine. Had this happen to my driver front and driver rear wheels. Trip to the dealer and they changed out the two wheel sensors and problem never returned. They said that they did not have to remove the tires to change out the sensors, just take the wheels off break the bead and move tire out of the way for access.

You might try manual re-learning of the sensors before you take it to have sensors replaced.
My hand held triggering device also displays what the sensor is transmitting so you can easily see if the sensor is working...

It sounds more like a TPMS module problem since you've had erroneous readings involving different sensors.

Default Does replacing battery cause the Service Tire Pressure Monitoring System Message?

I read some replies that a bad battery might cause this. My car just had the battery replaced.

Since we don't know what year your car is, if it is a 2014, the TPMS batteries could be over five years old.
If you ever bust open a TPMS you will find an 2032 battery or similar inside.
It feels like your batteries might be starting to fail. You will know if you wait until winter. Those lithium batteries hate cold. They will all be failed until the tires warm up.

The TPMS is attached to the valve stem inside the wheel.

Default Apologies

Please excuse a brand new user. I have a c5 and thought I was replying to an item for c5 vettes. Hopefully there is an easy way to move my item, or maybe I should delete it and post a new item to the proper forum.

I have found on the forum how to program or re-learn the sensors, but just wondered if disconnecting the battery could cause the message as it is suspicious that the message appeared immediately after replacing the battery.

By the way, I'm also a first time new owner of a 1998 C5 with 38K miles.

I think it might be back in the driver side fender area... I will see if it shows up in service manual.
