Default Differential machine problem

Hello,

I have a C7 Stingray with Z51 package LT2 and I am hearing a little noise from the rear differential machine. It is not too loud but if you concentrate well you can hear that it is may not normal. I bought it with 12000km and now I put in it 14000km so it has totaly 26000km. The oil is OEM in the differential so I have not change it yet but I dont think that it will solve this noise. The noise is roaring but not too load. But I want to care my car because the differential machine is not too cheap.
What do you think about it?
I hope you can help me in it.

How many miles do you have on your rear tires. I had 30K on mine and they were causing a noise from the rear end similar to what you are describing. Have a tire shop check your rear tires if you have a lot of miles on them. Got two new rear Michelins and no more noise from the rear of the car.

rear differential machine - ELSD, or Electronic Limited Slip Differential. Agree with previous post, also maybe check the fluid level in the ELSD or I would actually just change it (or have it changed). You'd be surprised what that can do and it's a limited cost first step to rule things out. Just make sure the proper fluid and procedure is used.

I dont think that it will be tires because when I dont push the pedal the differential will be quiet.

It's in your owners manual (or download the owners manual online). For 2017 it shows:

DEXRON® LS Gear Oil (GM Part No. 88862624, in Canada 88862625).
See Rear Axle 0 250 for information on checking the fluid.

And I dont understand that there is an differential or transmission oil cooler and I am not sure how it work and etc. But I have to change it and I dont trust other carservice so I hope that you can help me in it. And there is another question about the fill: How many liter I need to fill full the differential machine?

See this section of the tech forum for the differential change instructions: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ice-specs.html

Be VERY careful to not open the hydraulic system for the eLSD control by accident because if you go into this system it will require a dealer visit because it requires the dealer scan tool and a pump as part of the procedure. The actual differential fluid is fairly easy to change as outlined in the procedure but you will need to either operate it SAFELY with the rear wheels raised or take it for a short drive and then re-check fluid level after the differential cooler has refilled.

So it means that I can change whole oil if I use this tutorial? I dont want to open eLSD system I just hear a little noise from the differential and I read that the oil change can solve it and I also read that the dealer dont fill it full when at their factory. So I just want to change the oil and as I understand there is a pump in the eLSD which deliver the differential oil into the cooler so I dont have to use another special device to change the oil in the cooler because it is empty when the car is stop and every oil will be in the differential oil tank. Am I right?

thank you for your help.

Furthermore, I live in Hungary and I cannot be able to buy the OEM oil so I find a MOTUL 300 LS oil which has a same parameters. Do you think it is ok in the differential machine?

I dont want to open it. I just said that the oil which in the cooler when the car is stopped will in the differential oil machine tank. I checked my car and here is few picuture about the drain and fill place. The oil is there it means that I need new gasket for these palces, right?
Furthermore I am living in Hungary amd I cannot buy the OEM oil because it is avaiable in usa so I found last nigh this oil which has the same spec like the oem oil.

What do you think can I use this oil without any additive fluid?

You do NOT need a pump for the differential fluid. That is only needed for the hydraulic system which you don't need to touch.

You won't need any new gaskets for changing the differential fluid. It is drained by removing the drain plug and filled through a different plug.

As long as the Motul has the proper mix of limited slip additive it will be OK. Shipping is probably very expensive but you can get the Dexron LS 75W-90 via Amazon. GM uses the same Dexron LS 75W-90 in several vehicles that have a limited slip rear axle so you might check with a local GM dealer what they are using; it doesn't have to be a Corvette dealer which would be more difficult to find. Hopefully someone who has experience with the Motul branded product has direct experience with it and will post a response.
