Convertible Top intermittent
Hi fellow C7 Vert Owners:
Is anyone having problems with lowering their top after having a TSB which was a software update related to seat belts and airbags?
With my FOB I began lowering the top and it stops half way, I then press the unlock button on my FOB and then I can continue but does complete function. I then get in the car and complete the process using the switch inside the car. Before the software update I had no problems. Yes I have used both FOBs with the same results.
Thanks in advance for your input...

I have a 2016 Z Vert & I have the same problem, but it did the half way thing before the air bag/ trunk latch recall, so it is the nature of the beast. I think the FOBS have poor contact & I have to press hard to get them to work for the top, so I just use the dash control to do the job. There is a aftermarket device (Smart Top) that you can install to put the top up & down, but pricey:http://www.mods4cars.com/sms/db/smar...vZ2xlLmNvbS8=&

Just another data point . . . I also had intermittent success with the fob when lowering the top. I added Smarttop early this year, and it's the best mod I have done yet! For lowering, once the motion starts you can release pressure on the fob. When inside the car, you can set the raising and lowering to a single touch only rather than holding down the button. And one of the best features is that you can also raise the top with the fob! No need to raise it before you get out of the car!

I tried it once with my fob and it stopped halfway and have not tried it again since with the fob. This was prior to any TSB work. (2015 Vert).

I think there are two separate issues in this thread, already:
The known glitch that affects Verts immediately after having the seatbelt recall done. Cycle one way or the other, and it's fine.
The delay that occurs halfway thru the cycle when lowering the top, especially noticeable when using the remote. Try holding the button and wait up to five seconds, and the top will continue to lower.

LOWERING the top?? I know you can RAISE the top with the fob, kind of a nice feature in certain circumstances. If you guys have done an after-market modification, perhaps the guys who sold you that have an answer.

The OEM fob can only lower the top. We all wish it could raise it as well, but, alas! No.

Mine works the opposite. Three clicks of the unlock, then press the "raise the top" icon button and hold it. It's a 17. Was it different in prior years? Edit: I think we're in a terminology issue. I was using it wrong. I "raise the top" from a deployed covering you position to an "open" position. i mean, it does rise up, right? I "lower the top" when I want it to lower down on top of me and protect me from the dastardly elements. My bad, I'm thinking.

I used the fob twice shortly after taking delivery to lower the top, and before the seatbelt/airbag sensor recall. It worked once, and the other time, it stopped midway. After that, I decided I didn't need to use the fob to lower my top, which is I don't find useful. Since I can raise and lower in motion up to 30 mph, it's just not important to me.
