Thanks GM...another victim of the dreaded failed TC
Not much to say..honestly spend 99% of my driving in manual mode with paddles. 21k on a 2016 Z51..started noticing a shudder. I am hoping she will ride much better when I get her back. Anyone got any guess if this will be a continuous issue after replacement or should this resolve those issues for good?
Thanks

So I should cancel my 2018 order because your friend's son is a mechanic and told him not to buy GM? There are way too many people overreacting on this forum about these problems. If you have an actual problem, I can understand, but to react based on hearsay? That's just foolish.

If you read the other post, you'll find it's about 50/50 % if it works and not working. In some cases cars wind up needing new transmissions or even engines, and in some cases G/M has bought back the car the car.

This is the first I read where someone who drove 99% of the time in manual mode got the dredged TC shutter. So much for the magic bullet
Sorry to hear about your troubles.

According to the last Forum Poll most TC problems were with the 2015's and the next year was 2016. I think GM is trying a triple flush to begin with if you have the shudder. This might not last very long and I have seen posts that the shudder came back. I would definitely take my car to a dealer who has changed a lot of TC's. Practice makes perfect. I have a 2015 and my TC was replaced 20K miles ago and so far the transmission has been flawless. Good Luck

I got the shudder last week and was in manual, it happened when I paddle shifted to third. Felt like a bumpy road. Have not had the problem come back again as of yet. Still nervous every time I take it out.

While everything else about the car is wonderful, dreading a recurrence of any transmission issue really kills a lot of the fun of driving the car.
After a few surges w/ mine, I'm now driving it I'm in a parade,

Well, you can add me to the dreaded TC Shudder Club. 2016 Z51, A8, built in Feb 16 (but it sat on the lot for a year till I bought it in 2017). 2500 miles now. I started noticing a shudder in V4 mode around 2000 miles (which I think is pretty early, from what I've been reading in this forum). Doesn't do it when shifting from V8 to V4 or vice versa -- only when cruising steadily in V4 mode. Got more pronounced within a hundred miles of first noticing it. Read a lot of stuff about the issue and just decided to drive in manual mode as the path of least resistance (I'm leery about the Range AFM device b/c of warranty issues). No issues at all when using the shifters. Smooth shifting and cruising in all gears. So I've been shifting for the past month or two and actually enjoying it. But I was at the dealer for something else a few days ago and casually mentioned the AFM/TC shudder to the service advisor, and he encouraged me to bring it in for the triple flush. He said they do a LOT of those, and they've replaced a LOT of TCs as well b/c the flush doesn't always solve the problem. And not just with Corvettes. Also Camaros, Silverados, and a few Cadillacs. So I dropped the car off today for the triple flush and should get it back tomorrow. Service advisor said the standard practice is to give it 200 miles after the flush. If problem persists, they'll replace the TC, no questions asked. Keeping fingers crossed. Will post more later.

Tis really a bummer to keep hearing about these issues with these corvettes. I feel for the folks that have them and it takes so long to fix them and it's probably not for good yet either, or is it?

Having to replace the TC under warranty is bad enough, but it's probably going to cost in the $2500 to 3000 range for parts and labor after the warranty runs out. Anybody got a better estimate?

With no definitive answer from GM as to why it's happening I sold mine last week - it was a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. My biggest fear was it happening after the warranty period. Went out and got a '17 Porsche Carrera.

So you sold your car not because it gave you any actual problems but out of fear from the posts you've read on this forum?

I have a friend whose son is a mechanic at the local Chevrolet dealership. He recently told his father not to buy any GM car or truck with the A8 transmission because of the problems they're having with them.
I'd say Mister Big made a good decision.
