Don't *have* to purchase it, but if you wish to update, the C7 nav map update is available for a fee on a USB stick.
However, *unlike* the C6, the C7 nav map updates are keyed to your VIN. That means you cannot sell your 'old' update to someone else to use on their car as you could on the C6.
