Default C7 lowering

Why doesn't Chevrolet lower the C7 right from the factory? Why do they leave room to lower it?

Probably to cover the rear ends - one less warranty to worry about I would assume

At the lowest setting it might be difficult to load up onto the transport trucks for delivery, plus a lot of people might not like the lowest setting. I personally prefer it much lower than stock, but I do realize a lot of people find that too low for driving in their area (harder to enter some driveways for instance)

Pat beat me to it was just going to revise my comment - loading on trucks is a huge reason

See you posted the same question twice, This is my response twice!

You must not go in and out some of the driveways I do! Not only do I scrape my side air dams, in my C6 scraped and dented the "skid pads" (GM calls them radiator supports but they stick down much further than needed for that function and provide the additional function as well) several times and did the same in my 2014 C7. Fortunately on my C7 had installed plastic FANG "skid pad" protectors so no damage. They are are about 1 to 1 1/2 inches higher than the air dams and made from aluminum tubing! That aluminum on payment sound makes the rubber air dam scarping sound like music!

Below is a pic of my scraped "splitter protector." I fortunately added it several weeks before I had to exit a steep driveway in town!

That is all with factory settings!

Pic of bottom of the splitter "protector" I added to my Stage 2 aero splitter on my Grand Sport. Fortunately no damage to my carbon fiber splitter.

Because they realize a few of us are actually going to drive them. Any lower and I couldn't navigate the city streets or get into my driveway. My C7 GS has a little more clearance than my 13 GS and makes it a lot nicer to drive. Still have to be careful of the rain dips but not nearly so much. Besides when you lower yours, most of us can't tell it.

The real issue isn’t the height off the ground of the car it’s the wheel gap above the tire to the fender. My question is why don’t they lengthen the fenders to fill in the wheel gap? Problem solved.

As mentioned, it's probably about ease of transport. But a large wheel gap looks bad. I lowered mine all the way on the stock bolts and have had no problems.
P.S. The cars seem to vary a lot in terms of ride height from the factory. Mine was quite high.
