Default Comp vs regular seats

Looking at some Grand Sports. I would like to know if comp seats are good for long trips. Im about 5'8" and 220lbs. I have crappy joints so I dont need something that throws you around at every bump.

I can't speak to the comp seats, but I have the GT seats and they're great for long trips. If you have bad joints, this might your best option.

I think the opinions on seat preferences are going to be subjective. You really need to try both and see which fit you better. For what’s it’s worth, I have the competition seats and love the additional support over the standard seat. Not to mention they look
amazing.

You need to go sit in them. I wanted them until I sat in them and they were just too narrow for my back. They really do look the part though.

They were much to narrow for me and I’m if average build. Sitting in them is really your best bet.

Comps are fine with me for long trips but everyone is different.
The Gt seat sits your rear a little more on top instead of the comp you go down in it a little more. Overall I would say the GT's are a little more comfortable. The comps are more race driver biased nicer in corner's.
Neither is a wrong choice.

Just an FYI, I have the GT seats for comfort and the Comp seat backs - best of both worlds! Sorry, the FYI is that you can get GT seats and if you want, have the seat backs changed to comp seat backs.

No way for long trips.

I took a 2-hr trip down to Kerbeck's just to sit in the competition seat. They had a Z06 in stock with the comp seats. I found the seat pan way too hard. It would bruise my butt and hurt my tailbone after long hours of driving on freeways. I found the GT seat way more comfortable.

My friend is a big guy and has had three C7Zs with touring seats. After sitting in mine with Comp seats for some street driving and a track session, he’s sold. He swapped into a new C7Z with comp seats.

I've had time in both, regular seats are more comfortable on long trips 110%. That said, I still wouldn't trade my comp seats for regular seats. Longest trip I've been on was 400 miles, and I could definitely feel it after that much time.

I was concerned, as well, as I anticipated a nearly 1600 mile trip home after picking up my '18 at Kerbeck's. Admittedly, the ones in my C5 were not really the best.

I can say that I was quite pleasantly surprised with the base seats in the 07. I put in a couple of long days on the road without issue. And, I might add that I start my 8th decade before year's end, so I'm not a spring chicken, so to speak.

Everyone's body is different. I sat in them for 5 minutes, and my back started to go into spasm. Not an issue for me with the GT seats.

Just bought a z06 900 miles away in Atlanta and drove it back to NJ. It has comp seats and at first they did seem to be narrow but I have no complaints after the drive back. If anything, I got used to the seats. But no problems, just a lot of smiles.

Go with the Comp seats. I'm 6'0" and 235 lbs. and have driven the car for 300 miles in one sitting with no issues. The seat bolsters cut into the back of my thighs a bit, but the regular seats do the same thing, a common complaint with many Vette owners with and without the comp seats. Other than that, good feeling of grip and they are comfortable enough for long drives. And most importantly, they look so cool.

My comp seats were fine driving back to Detroit from the Museum.

I have done around 25,000 miles in my 2015 Z51 and now GS with Competition seats in both. They fit me fine and I have no problem doing 250 miles between stops (as long as I limit the coffee and don't need a pee break).

I had the Comp seats on my 2014, but did not get them on my 2015.

I do think the GT seats are more comfortable and both my cars were 3LT’s.

One of the things I could never understand is why with a 3LT and the GT seats, you actually get the Napa leather on them but yet on the Comps you do NOT.

That’s why when I ordered my 2015 I didn’t get them again. My logic was “ if I’m already paying for a car that comes with seats, why would I spend more on different seats that have a lower quality leather???”

To each there own though. I just think it’s odd they don’t offer a competition seat that is actually 3LT trim when you Spec the car out that way.

No problems at all with the comp seats on long trips. 6'3" 225. My wife wants to take it on all long trips now over the C4.
