Default Some damage

Hi Guys,

Any idea what I damaged on the bottom of the vet? Not sure how I did it, but it’s definitely got some rash.

Think I need to get it fixed or don’t worry about it?

After that other damage post, this car might be totaled as well.

Is that just part of the plastic duct work to direct air over the brakes? If so, I'm guessing you can ignore it, especially if you don't track the car.

Not sure. It’s behind the wheel but it does look lik the duct work for the brakes. It does also appear to be plastic. I’m guessing I can ignore it, but i’m curious what it is.

I would get it fixed / replaced. Looks like a great new home for little critters and who knows where that hole leads to....maybe to some tasty wiring harnesses.

I think it part of the tub. I do not think that have anything to do with the brakes cooling. It is behind the front wheel. It look like it in the drive side floor. I have it checked out to be safe.

Sure glad you aren’t my mechanic. Because you are dead wrong...lol wheel. Well liner, or brake duct. Easy fix.

Looks like it bottomed out on a curb or something pretty solid...

But it does look like it is just the inner part of the wheel well that can be replaced.

It is a rear brake cooling duct on a Z51, and plastic. No need to do anything as long it is firmly attached. It still looks functional and will deliver plenty of air to the brakes. In fact, you don't need it at all, unless you're tracking it.

It looks like it hit some road debris. It wouldn't take much to do that, as it's fairly thin plastic.

Looks like it’s just part of the wheel well plastic. Seems like it’s just some sort of cover, at least that’s what it looks like to me.

I was thinking it was the cooling ducts for the brake but I didn’t think it would be so far behind the wheel. I thought it would have been in front of the wheel.

Isn't this what you're looking at? It's ducted to the trannie/diff as well.

It may look a little different on a coupe, and the picture below is from my Z51 convertible, which doesn't have the vents on the top of the rear fender.

Yep that’s what it is. My view is just from the back. So it sounds like nothing to worry about.

I think your are correct. The damage is behind the FRONT wheel, not the rear, and it has nothing to do with the brake ducts because it is BEHIND the front wheel (If you look closely, you can see the oil cooler and cat. on the right)... It is a closeout panel that attaches to the wheel well liner...

Nope, that's not it..
Your damage is in the front of the car, correct?
What you are looking at here from the rear is the gas tanks, and ducting.

Rooster OG has it right.

Default Just so happens....

....I was at a Chevron pulling up to the pump and I ran over the top of the cover to the station's gas tanks and it made a very nice graunchy sound....I'm going in Thursday for an oil change and to have a front splitter installed, fingers crossed......

Yeah, I think you're right. I couldn't really tell what I was looking at in the pics from the OP. C54u's pic in post #18 sealed the deal for me.
