........I'm having a basic black plastic factory Z06 splitter installed tomorrow. Does it in any REAL way improve airflow or am I just shallow enough to do it for cosmetics? See, you guys are kinda like a Wednesday night meeting in the church/temple/mosque basement ("Hi my name is Dan and I own a Corvette................Hi Dan") and I'm seeking honest counsel......
The plastic one? No, it's pretty much for looks. On the other hand, you won't bombastically scream obscenities every time you drive up a slightly elevated driveway, drain gutter, or tiny hill. [SCRAPE goes the carbon fiber].
Seriously thinking about removing my carbon fiber splitter and replacing it with a plastic one. The car would be so much more practical.

Absolutely. I installed a poverty splitter, and noticed the car felt extremely planted as I was backing out of my garage and turning around in the driveway...lol
Ok, seriously, probably not until you are going at go directly to jail speed, and then it’s probably minimal.
None of them do anything at your local municipality speed limits. I have an all black car, put it on, and the plastic... well, “screamed” plastic against the black paint. Other color vettes look ok with it though. Luckily, I used 3m tape, so no holes were drilled. Splitter came off promptly
I think the front looks unfinished without some kind of splitter; and I have the 'poverty splitter' on my GS. Quite happy with the look. Wouldn't mind something flashier, but not willing to spend the $$ on what is basically a disposable angle-detector.

Let us know where you got yours and how you like it

just went on Amazon and typed in "C7 Splitter" and found two OEM ones, one about 135 and the other about 170, both OEM.....used some points and got it for about 115 shipped.

For looks unless you track the car at high speeds. I installed one on mine. Took it off a week later after I trashed it accidentally. I decided I didn't like the looks after all anyway. My wife always said it looked like a ran over something and it got stuck to the bottom of the bumper. But.....like others have stated, if you like it that is all that matters. A lot of drivers like them.
Corvettes are cars of passion, not appliance. Making those minor changes (or major) to make it your ride are common, almost expected. If you like it, go for it.
On the other hand if you're reporting that you intend to install a ground effect package on your Chevy Cruze or Volt, yeah you might want to visit Auto Modifications Anonymous.
