Default Track Day Setup

I have a 2016 Z51 and I am looking for suggestions on what people are using for track day Tires and brake pads. I am using the OEM rotors for now, I would like to put on wider Z06 wheels and tires if there is enough clearance, Has anyone done this?? Thanks you any input.

Tires depend on the type of track event, autocross or road course. There are a lot of good options, just depends on the type of racing you like; short, hard bursts or high speed road course. Brakes also depend on racing style and how often you're racing. Serious track dedicated car or weekend driver with occasional track fun? If occasional, OEM Z51 brakes and pads are just fine, otherwise AP or other track quality will work. In either case, look to upgrade to DOT 4 fluid. Nothing worse than your pedal sinking to the floor at 130mph because your dot3 boiled.
As for Z06 wheels, I too have a 16 Z51. Don't try the Z06 wheels. You're asking for trouble on the track. I swapped the factory 19x8.5 fronts and 20x10 rears for 19x9.5 fronts and 20x11 rears. 0 issues, but anything wider on a z51 and you'll likely cause yourself headaches.

What size tire are you using?
Thanks,

I would suggest Carbotech brake pads but the compound will depend on your tire choice. You need to decide on a tire set up first.

Thanks,

For now, since tracking duties fall on my Camaro, I used the OEM PSS ZP tires on the new rims. I also lowered the car on the factory bolts, so I have to take that into consideration. With all the research I've done, I can do 255s on the front 19x9.5s (some will say 265s are fine too, but I'm comfortable with the 255s) and 305s on the rear 20x11s. So when I get the next set, I 'll most likely do 255front/295 or 305 rear, but leaning toward 295

I'm just a casual track day driver mostly in Intermediate solo groups. Been doing HPDE events since 2003 but now just two events/ year with my first Corvette,'16 Z51

Still sorting things out but I'm happy with the Carbotech XP12/XP10 combo, I've been using for 10 years now. The stock rotors didn't last two days at Watkins glen before they overheated creating hot spots and excess pad build up. Had them replaced under warranty with the new single piece rotors. Will see if they are any better, but I suspect I will eventually settle on KNS or DBA rotors. Motul RBF 600 is what I use full time. Change it once a year in the spring and just bleed brakes before events.

I don't track often enough anymore to justify dedicated wheels or rotors, but I really wish I could get a set of NT01's in stock sizes. Loved them on my Mustang track car. I thought the stock ZP's were surprisingly good though.

Like I said, still sorting things out myself.
