So a sport bike and a C7 past me doing 140+ it got me thinking...

I've raced 600's, 750's and 1000's in the AFM, CCS & WERA.
You'd get left for dead.
My 2018 Z06 Z07 is fast (I instruct regularly at VIR), but my BMW S1000RR will destroy it.
Of course, if you get some squid that can't ride in anything but a straight line, then it becomes a different venue altogether on a track or twisty road.
It takes a lot more skill & physical ability to be fast on a bike than in a car.

That's a pretty weak argument. It sounds like Junior High school taunting. The fact is talking on a cell phone is illegal in most states, maybe all by now. That doesn't mean we all haven't done it. I know I have. And like everyone else here I've broken the speed limit a time or two as well. But when you combine these two things with wanting to join in on a street race where other cars are traveling, well, that's just plain stupid, Calling it reckless driving is an understatement. Besides, OP never said he would do it. In fact, he did not. It just "got him to thinking." so now we know how much faster bikes are than c7s, and insofar as that's got your juvenile testosterone buzzing, good for you. Hopefully we will all continue to drive in a civilized manner, so as not to be a danger to ourselves and others.

Mythbusters proved that talking on a handheld cell phone and driving was as bad, if not worse, than driving under the influence...
As a former motorcyclist, seeing someone talking on the phone, or worse, surfing the internet/texting, really pisses me off.....

We quit chasing bikers because they'd invariably end up dead...the one's who could ride would just disappear.

I had an R1 mess with me back in the summer and boy was he surprised when he looked over to see how far behind I was and I wasn’t, I was right next to him. So I just waved at him
But I’m over 600whp.

I know I’m bench racing here, but my Diavel supposedly does 0-60 in 2.6-8 seconds and a 1/4 in the low 10s. And I think it has a 200 mph top speed.

Anyone can twist a throttle in a straight line. Watch how they make slow speed or tight maneuvers. They'll use the entire road or take their feet off the pegs/boards for balance because they've never taken the time to learn to ride properly.

I have not read a test on the Diavel, but the 1/4 mile in the low tens sounds a bit optimistic unless in the hands of a real pro and perfect conditions. High tens maybe. But the 200 is not even close. I doubt if it will do over 160.

Are you implying that bike riders can either ride fast in a straight line or in curves, but not both? I've roadraced and done quite well at an Amateur level and I still like going fast in a straight line. I'm quite sure that I'm not alone in that being a bit of a speed freak I like all sorts of speed.

Modern liter bikes will accelerate to top end faster than your C7, but many of them are limited to 186mph by computer. And their speedo's tend to be 5-10% optimistic so that will actually be slower. I know my K4 GSX-R1000 can disable that limiter with a simple resistor, then it is geared to touch 200mph actual.
But seriously, at those speeds you run out of road REALLY fast so you are never going to find out who is faster, only which pilot is more chicken or less stupid.

I have always had some sort of sport bike or another. This year I decided on my first Ducati, and went for the supersport, which is their street sportbike. I felt so mature not picking up a panigale Such beautiful machines, if you can stand the under seat heat.

That's a neat bike. I wish they would build a 1299 version of it. Not that I need it, I get that. It just fills a different space for me. I already have two other bikes to fill my practical space. See sig.

Hopefully I am back on a clean streak.
I still ride. Put on about 5,000 miles this season, which is a low total for me.
Will not be giving it up anytime soon.
