So I'm tinting naive. Back in May my ex who I'm still close friends bought a new ZL1. I was there to help with the buying process and then later for the tinting process. We went to a reputable shop in town that came recommended from a few different people. We opted for ceramic tint after playing with their little light demo they had where you feel the heat going through different tinted glass. Anyway, they did it for $300. Fast forward to now, I recently bought a Z06 a couple weeks ago. Took it to the same place today to get an estimate on it and my truck (17 colorado ext cab). Now when we were they back in May we dealt with the owner or office manager, someone who was in charge. This time she was there so I spoke to the tech for my estimate. Told him I wanted the same ceramic tint 20% around. After taking "35%" off he gave me a quote for $720 for the Vette and $680 for the truck. Didn't think much of it at first but driving home this didn't seem right. So I called up my ex and she reminded me it was $300. Did some cold calling to a few other places and they were all in the ballpark of 300-350. Although I didn't ask the brand. So I call the guy back and ask him why the large difference in price from when I was there before. He told me on the Camaro we got solarGard but the estimate he gave me was for the 3M which would give my 20% more heat reduction.
So here's the thing, is double the price really worth 20%??? From what I could find online it does seem the 3M does provide better heat prevention. However I do live in Vegas where hot is hot no matter what you do. I'm just wondering if I'm really going to notice the 20% or save my money and do the SolarGard. Driving my ex's car during the summer here it felt cool, relatively speaking. Again hot is hot here during the summer. But I can't say it felt any different than my 12 Vette that had god knows what tint on it since it was tinted when I bought it. Or any other tinted car I've been in. I'm fine to spend the money if it's worth it but for 700 bucks I can essentially get both my cars done with SolarGard

I'd try and shop around and get a deal on the 3m however looks like SolarGard is legit and should absolutely do the job.
look up tinting for comparisons - I did when I was looking to tint my 2015 F-150 and ceramic was the best with lumar being the top tier (if I remember correctly) cost a little more but no fade, etc. - and two shops were close on the price
The best window tint brands in the market today are LLumar and FormulaOne, Solar Gard, and Madico. 3m is also a good choice, although according to some users, the brand is not in the same class as the first mentioned. Anyway, the tinting film to use really depends on what works and looks best on your car.
Walker, I think Formula One is one of Llumars top tier tints, if not the top.
Op, you should look around, or call back, and talk to the owner of the shop, those prices you were quoted are way over the top. It also sounds like whoever you talked to was back pedaling when you called them out on the price.
Top of the line tint shouldn’t cost over half of what you were quoted unless they’re going to take care of the matrix dots on the side windows, the windshield, and corvette flags on the back.
