Traded in my 2004 Porsche 911 Turbo for 2015 Stingray automatic
I had my Porsche for over 6 years and felt it was time for a change. Especially when it cost me over 3k for a clutch and hoses this year with only 65,000 miles. I previously went from an 05 VIPER (got crazy attention but raw), to 06 Vette (cheap interior but more civilized than Viper), Porsche, to Vette.
My buddy bought a new 2017 Vette this year so I had some time to drive and get acquainted. An amazing upgrade in quality all the way around from C6 to C7. Went with the 8 speed automatic and don't regret it with the lightning shift. I don't track my cars but have fun banging it in the Arizona outback roads. The Porsche I had flashed, short shifter, and agency exhaust which greatly increase performance. dyno had it at 440hp and over 500 torque. I get asked which is faster, Vette or Porsche which I can't answer as the 6 speed, and auto r to different animals which give a different feeling. On paper they're about the same but if I had to bet on a 1/4 mile I'd take the Vette. Technology is light years ahead, however 11 years different between cars. Porsche stickered for 120k in 04 and my Vette 65K new. Vette is still the best bang for the buck and now has great quality all the way around. I'm very proud to be back fellow Vette Kids! Now what rear spoiler should i get since I have stock?

Congrats on getting back into a Vette. Pics of the new ride would be nice.

I too traded in my Porsche, a 2012 Cayman R, for a 2017 Grand Sport on Nov 15. I have yet to put many miles on it due to recovering from back surgery but I can say it is a much more comfortable ride as well as being more planted and quicker. Technology wise the Corvette is light years ahead. The only thing I have found better on the Porsche was the PDK dual clutch transmission. So far I am quite happy with my trade.

I looked at a bunch of different cars including a new Cayman and pre-owned 911’s before finally going with the Vette. I felt that the overall driving experience with the vette was superior to the others. Also, fit and finish on the 2017 vette was very good and nearly on par with Porsches I was looking at. The icing on the cake is that the overall service cost with Corvette is going to be lower than the Porsche.

Congrats! I traded in my 991.1 base w/ PDK. Then tried a base 991.2 w/ manual only to find that I could not emotionally connect with it. Settled on a Z51 manual - the sound is sublime

How did you like the handling of the 991.1 base and 991.2 w/ manual cars on the street compared your Z51?

The 991.1 handled incredibly well especially with trail braking (given the rear engine layout). Didn't really have much seat time in the 991.2. Can't compare the Z51 yet given that I still have not pushed the car to anywhere close to it's limits and have less than 100 miles on it - need way more driving time first . I suspect the Z51 overall will be easier to drive than the 991 - the next few weeks/months will allow me to compare.
