Default Autographed engines!?

I may (or may not) have the opportunity this week to get my plenum cover or fuel rail cover signed by some very important corvette people.

I have custom painted covers from Pete. So in anticipation of the opportunity... Question - what kind of pen would work best?? Just a regular permanent ink sharpie or should I be looking for something else? Paint pen? Heat resistant?

Also - if you have autographed covers - please post them here and lets hear the story!

TIA

I guess it depends on if you intend to keep using them or pull them and hang them up in the house and buy new ones. I would think a silver sharpie would work but after wiping the covers down a few times may start to wipe off. Not an issue if you don't intend to keep them on the car. A paint pen would probably work, but you'd want to test it on something similar to know it will work the way you intend.

I took delivery of my C6 convertible at the Corvette museum (everybody should do it!!) in December 2005, and I invited my buddy and his 12 year-old son to come along for the experience. I bought two Lemans-Blue fuel rail covers and two silver Sharpies, and during the personalized factory tour (just the three of us and a tour guide for 2 hours!) my bud's son and I each offered a cover and a Sharpie to every line worker we saw. They were all awesome and happy to do it, and it gave me something not many folks have. I just bought a 2017 Grand Sport (thanks Kerbeck), and am wavering about keeping the 2006, but leaning toward doing so because of the experience. I can tell the Sharpie sigs have faded a bit after a couple details, but the pic I've attached was from a couple months ago, so still looking pretty good.

Might be worth asking Pete, perhaps he could put another coat of clear on top of the autograph.

If you are going to keep it on the car, it would be best to shoot some clear over it...but I just bought an extra cover...Can you guess who these guys are?
Some are the same on the C5 and C7.
I just used a permanent sharpie.
BTW-Who do you consider "important Corvette people"?

Sharpie will work fine but if you wax / polish after the signatures will disappear. If you use clear coat you will be okay or if you use a paint pen it doesn't come off as easy. I had a couple of things signed by Mario Andretti and used the paint pen - great result.

If you did an NCM delivery, your car is likely signed underneath by the guys who did the PDI.

Careful with shooting clear, I did it once and the names blurred off.
