I had a C5 Z06 that I absolutely loved, but had to sell it a few years ago. I've had the itch ever since and finally scratched it last week. Just can't pass up this fire sale GM seems hell bent on doing. 2017 GS 3LT. This thing is ridiculous. Wasn't much into white cars - I've always owned silver, but man... this car in white is sweet.
Anyway... looking forward to getting to know her a little better and making her all mine. Meanwhile I'm dying to get past the 500 mile break-in period. I'm halfway there and haven't broken 4K yet. May be the most difficult self restraint I've exercised in my life.
So now I'm back on the forum... and there's go my productivity at work....
If it's not too much to ask, what was the highest performance car you drove recently before buying the new 'Vette?
Wait... I might have read your question wrong. What was the highest performance car that I drove recently... not that I owned?
I drove a few... Z06, BMW M3, BMW M5, Porsche 911, Audi S5, Cadillac CTS-V, ATS-V.
All serious contenders. Just couldn't stop thinking about that GS. Closest that I came to getting was the CTS-V or Z06. The CTS was just too much money for that car and the Z06 was just too much engine for that car. I think the GS is the perfect balance. If I could have found one with the Z07 option for a reasonable price, I would have done it. But I got this bad boy for about $18k off sticker and I just couldn't pass that deal up.

Your second post was more what I was asking, thank you for both replies.
