Default Splitter Install Without Rivets

I track my car and would like to be able to change splitters easier than drilling out rivets. I have seen other suggest the plastic scrivets but do not think they would be adequate for track duty. Has anyone actually used rivnuts on their splitters?

This splitter is held on by approximately 12 stock screws. It won’t budge. Easiest install ever. The screws that hold a plastic piece up are the same ones usd to install a splitter.

I agree with you. The extra holes are on the leading edge and the splitter is there to create force, so it is sure to deflect downward without the extra fasteners.
Also, I wanted metal screws, so I just used the same stock screws and u-nuts that hold the bumper cover on... I used u-nuts instead of standard hex nuts because the screws are an odd thread size... m4.2- 1.71 I think..

NOTE: You can reach inside the bumper cover to attach the flat washer and u-nut on all holes, except the two center holes, so I did use a plastic rivet (push pin type) on those two holes only. The rest are all metal screws. No rivets

Use plastic skrivets.

NAPA sells them. They are reusable. Also good for mounting side skirts.
Make sure you buy the correct size. Mount the splitter and mark the holes where factory bolts are not there and use the plastic rivets.

Might also note that you have to drill larger holes for the plastic rivets and they are not as strong. I only had to drill a 1/8" hole for the bumper sized screws, and most people are using 3/8" or larger plastic rivets.
Since I only used two for the holes I could not reach, I used 1/4" plastic rivets and I used the type that has a screw in the center instead of just a push pin.

Don't over complicate this. Just use the factory screws.
