Since someone brought this thread back, and I started it, here’s my update...after almost 2 months I couldn’t be happier with them. I’ve driven in single digit temps, including on the interstate at 80 mph. Great traction even at those temps. We got several inches of snow last Saturday and I couldn’t resist taking it for a drive. I got a lot of weird looks, but even in Sport mode driving sensibly it never got loose.

Great tires.

[QUOTE=driver9;1596452750]My 2016 Stingray M7 has 18,000 miles on it and I'm thinking of changing out the original Pilot Super Sport ZPs in favor of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZPs. Costco has a $70 discount for the purchase of four Michelin tires by January 28, bringing the price for the set to $709.96, plus about $72 for installation.

I agree these are great tires and WOW!!! That is one great price $710.00 plus $72.00. WOW!!!. I paid almost $500.00 more. Good Luck.

This mirrors my experience at the two month mark also!

When I saw your post, I went back to the online Costco page and looked again, thinking that it would be worth posting a screenshot. Unfortunately, it turns out that they were trying to sell me a set of 4 front tires - 245/40ZR18XL. That's how they got that great price.

I looked further and couldn't find the rear tires online at Costco in ZP. So I drove over to my local Costco and spoke to the manager of the tire shop there. He was able to find the rear tires in ZP -- and quoted me $300.99 each for them. Then he quoted the front tires for $219.91. Costco is selling thoe for $194.99 online, before the $70 for 4 Michelins discount.

Then he tells me that Costco recently emailed their shop (don't know if it's all shops or regional or what) and said they can't install 2015 and newer Corvette tires because of something about the characteristics of the rim that made it a hassle and thus unprofitable for them to install them. I asked if he meant 2014 since that's the first year of C7, but he said it was 2015. <shrug>

In any case, I can buy the tires from Costco but have to get them installed elsewhere -- at least at my local one. Maybe tomorrow I'll call a couple of others.

In any case, the pre-tax, pre-installation purchase price is more like $1000 from Costco, best case so far.

Apologies for the false alarm on price.

Thanks everybody on the updated owner-satisfaction aspect of the tires.

Yes, the AS3+ ZP is a fantastic tire. It could easily be the OEM C7 tire, and 90+% of the population of owners wouldn't notice the difference even in summer. However, in cooler temps, it blows the OEM PSS away.

Having switched back and forth between both sets over nearly 2 years of season changes now, I think I can safely say that for street use, the vast majority would be very happy w/ the AS3+ year round. However, in very high performance driving conditions, I do feel an advantage in favor of the PSS when pavement and tire temps are very hot, but I think that's the only time they are significantly better and only when driving at 9/10ths+.

@ driver9
For giggles and grins, if you have an America's tire/Discount Tire nearby, take Costco's quote to them and see what they can do...
Costco has great prices, but after-sale service is limited and in my experience is first come/first served...
I can make an appointment online at AT/DT for any of their services, and have been a satisfied customer since '03 as discussed in the thread I linked. I have no financial interest in them, but like to find and share quality operations.

I agree with your assessment of Costco's after-sale tire service.

I wasn't aware that Discount Tire would play the match game, but I will check it out and see what's what.

Thank you.

Don’t think I saw it mentioned in any of the post, but what kind of mileage should one expect from the AS3+ ZP? I daily drive my 2016, 60 miles a day and would like a tire that performs well but gets more than 20,000 miles. Thanks.

Is this an outlier, or are there really out-of-round and impossible-to-balance issues with these tires? Usually I prefer Michelin tires, but I don't want to get dragged into some boondoggle with these. My current tires still have a reasonable amount of life left in them so I don't _have_ to get new tires now.

Also, is Costco capable of dealing with Corvette tires?

Any feedback on this issue is appreciated.

Also are there any updates from those who have tried the Pilot Sport A/S 3+ ZPs (run-flats)?
I PUT THE NONE-ZP a/s3+ TIRES ON MY SS. Huge issues. One tire replaced by tire rack, the others will balance, barely, and I have vibration issues. I love the performance of the tires, but Michelin has issues. My installer says that this happens often.

Next time, Pirrelli for me.

This is the exact reason I have them road force balance every tire.. I am not sure if Costco has a road force...

I'm a little disturbed by a 10-month-old 1-star user review here:
https://www.consumerreports.org/prod.../#user-reviews
The headline on the review was "5 out of 6 tires had balance issues and were out of shape" and goes on to say:
"OK so some background first, I was very satisfied with with the previous Generation Michelin pilot Sport A/S 3, so I opted to buy the new iteration called the 3+ of the same tire for my 2011 BMW X3 35i with 19inch staggered tires. The PS A/S 3+ have improved snow traction as per Michellin. I bought the new set from Costco, as as soon as they were installed I noticed a high frequency vibration in the steering wheel , the foot pedals, and the seat. After much deliberations, and close to $300 of expenditure in getting things checked by BMW, and by Wheel specialists, as Costco could not diagnose the problem, it was confirmed that the Michelins had a out of shape problem, and were impossible to balance as a result. This caused vibration in my BMW. We tested other brand new tires including OEM Pirelli's at the BMW dealer and the problem went away. So I had Costco replace the front two tires to start with them but then again the same problem persisted. 5 out of 6 tires had quality issues and could not be balanced. So these new tires I conclude have very poor QA from the factory, and Michelin or Costco should take the responsibility to compensate for my money spent in diagnosing the bad tires they sold me, but Costco flat out refused to compensate me. I had no other choice but to go for Bridgestone Potenze RE970AS pole position tires, that eliminated the vibration problems and were as smooth as butter, from Costco, as Costco carries only Bridgestone or Michelin brands. I wanted to bring this to the attention of CR as the tire has the highest rating given by them in the UHP category, and I too have had a great experience with its previous iteration, but in my experience with this new 3+ compound there are severe Quality issues that Michelin needs to sort out first, and the tire is undeserving of its top position."

I don't think Pirelli even makes an all season tire in the 19/20 C7 sizes, a quick check of Tire Rack shows only a summer tire from them.

By the time I need new tires I hope there are more choices, I had Pirelli P Zero Nero all seasons on my C5 and drove through a few winters on them and they performed well even in a few inches of snow.

When I bought a Jaguar F-Type a few years back, I was very active on the largest F-Type forum. One of the most common threads involved people who HATED the OEM Pirelli P-Zeros, switched to the PSS, and raved about how much better Michelins are.

Thinking that the grass is always greener on the other side is a common human trait.

I have never had a problem with Michelin all season tires with 50,000 miles on my C6 and now 10,000 miles on my C7. They are quiet, smooth and require very few balance weights. Bottom line is that they make a great tire and have for decades.

Discount has always matched Costco price for me. Plus you don't have to fight the Costco crowd.

FWIW, I had P-Zero Neros on my '11 Mustang GT and wish I had found the Michelin A/S 3+ I installed last year at the first tire change... I drive the car "spriritedly" but sanely, but wore out two P-Zero sets in 40000 miles (a third of which was highway driving), and the road noise was uncomfortable... The Michelins were much quieter and smoother on a 2500 mile road trip, and handle as well as the Pirellis... After buying my C7, I will unlikely drive the Mustang another 30000 miles before I sell it, but IMO the change was worthwhile...

The AS3+ is a relatively new tire that only became available in 2016.

I just put the A/S 3+ non run flats on my car after 2000 miles on the OEM's and they are phenomenal. Much improved ride quality, much smoother and and far more quiet. They don't throw gravel and the front end doesn't chatter in a slow tight turn. Wish these came on the car. I hammered it today in some tight corners and the SS's are probably a bit better for hard driving/cornering but for most normal driving it's not even close. At least on the Stingray these should be the OEM tires. You don't get the track tires until you get to Z51 land.

I have said that in the past as well, that at least these tires should be offered as an option. I would have definitely checked off that box for mine, as I do like to drive in cooler weather (not in rain or snow mind you) When my original tires are worn out I'm definitely getting a set of Michelin all season run flats.

A/S ZP should be standard on the base Stingray with the summer only tires on Z51 and GS, in my opinion.
