We had a sort of similar experience with birds pecking at their reflection on a brand new polished brass front door "kick plate". It was about an 8" high or so fully polished brass plate and the bird destroyed it.
I eventually put up "Bird Netting" across our front porch to keep the bastard away. Had to replace the brass kick plate as it was too far gone.
I had a cardinal spend about 15-20 minutes attacking his image in my driver's mirror. Fortunately there was no paint damage. Bird probably got a headache.
We have many sandhill Cranes that live in our community. they are tall birds that stand about 5', they have destroyed my wife's rear view mirror, birds will be birds.
OP nice job on the clean up
We had a bird (female Robin) get very angry at the polished, deep-dish aluminum wheels on the rear and tag axles of our diesel-pusher, motorcoach during mating season. She sat inside them and attacked them for the good part of a week while we were on vacation, and it took a hell of a lot of polishing to remove the scratches.
It is amazing how strong bird beaks can be . . . much like little jack-hammers.
We have several flocks of wild turkeys that come from the woods behind our houses. They like to cruise the neighborhood and pick fights with their reflections on parked cars. If they start up with the vette it might be shotgun time.
So, with that in mind . . . . . what is PPF'd? Some kind of paint protection (PP?), no doubt (like Xpel or a Opt-Pro) . . . . . right?
(I recently purchased a black Z06, so this is an important educational process!)
yes. PPF is xpel suntek 3m etc. I went with Xpel. Installer imo is even more important than the product. They're very similar. Suntek claims best optical clarity but it's not as durable as 3m or Xpel so they say.
who knows.
as for the ceramic coatings? Thwy don't stop samdblasting or rock chips. PPF like those products I listed do.
