Default Do you ever tire of "Are you going through your middle age crisis or what?"

Oh it never fails somebody that hasn't ever seen your C7 before see it and say those dreaded words. First, I don't like being reminded that I am middle age and second it has nothing to do with the car. I have always loved cars, motorcycles and boats my whole life. I love speed, acceleration and the ability to totally jam through turns fast(my favorite). Sure I like the looks of the c7 but I really bought it for what it does first and the looks second.

Why do people think people like us only like the car to show that we are still young, hip and vibrant? Does a car make you look younger? I don't see how you are what you are. No, we buy then because we appreciate hot cars and the power and handling of the car and it makes us "feel" younger.

So I thought it might be interesting for us to post witty comeback for when people hit us with that question of middle age crisis or middle age crazy.

I'll start, "oh that's not my car I borrowed it from my 80 year old mother and she is going through her late life crisis my other car is piece of **** Prius like yours. ."

I just tell them it's a gift from my angel. My wife of 21 years, passed away after a courageous and dignified 10 year battle with cancer. She was able to remain in our home thanks to Hospice Care giving us the opportunity to discuss in detail what her desires were for the future for her and me. One day she surprised me by saying “I know how much you like hot cars, so I want you to take my IRA and buy yourself a Corvette”. She knew I had two Corvette (1970 & 1974) before we married and that I had always maintained the Corvette itch. I finally did buy a Corvette and she now rides with me in spirit every mile. I am 75.

Yes, I do, especially since I've owned Corvettes ever since I was 17.

I don't bother to make a comeback. People that make those comments are not worth the effort. Who gives a crap what some stupid moron comments on. If mine is a mid-life crisis, I'm going to to be a future news story about being well over 100 years old.

I am 54 and at a point in my life that i can afford a new ' Vette, if that counts as "mid life crisis" be it !!! still cheaper than divorce....

Also, the GS is only a normal evolution of all the other american muscle cars I was fortunate to own and enjoy in the past ,
I just enjoy the 'Vette more !

My dad and I are electricians, so we drive service-oriented vehicles. In his mid 50s, my dad bought a Ford van with the V10 triton motor. It had 340 horsepower and had some serious power for a vehicle of its size and weight. My mom would poke fun at him, calling it his “mid-life crisis van.” He was not happy.

My mother aside, people who make comments like that just don’t understand or they are envious and want to bring you down. Either way, just smile and laugh. You’re the one driving the ‘Vette. Who cares what some shmuck driving a champagne colored Toyota Camry thinks about your car?

I usually respond with - "Well if that's the case I've been mid life for quite some time now as this is my 4th Corvette!".

BWT altransam - do you know why divorces are so expensive?

James Taylor sang this in "Secret of Life " : " since we are on our way down, might as well enjoy the ride ! "
and : " we are only here for a while, better show some style ? "

Please tell me Defaria ? I forgot after the last 2, still with the same gal since 2001....

If this is 'Mid-Life" I'm gonna live to 140. That's okay.

While I might be a little younger than the average corvette owner. I make the joke on myself to save them the hassle and tell them I'm 30 going on 65. Since we bought the wife a Cadillac earlier this year and I just bought my first corvette. With the stereotypes, looking in our garage at a Cadillac and a Corvette you'd think we were older than 30.

Fortunately most of the people I associate with are car people so I really have not heard that over used saying much.

OK, ask them "Are you having a jealousy crisis, or are you being driven crazy by jealousy? Because clearly something is driving you to feel the need to insult me."

It's one thing if your friends are just giving you a tough time, but if it's a stranger... Ef 'em.
