Decoding a 2018 C7 VIN
C7 VINs include a code that indicates trim level, transmission and Z51/non-Z51, Grand Sport or Z06:
2018 VIN Decoding:
This is an example of a VIN # for a 2018 Corvette Coupe (3LT, Z51, MN7):
1 G 1 Y L 2 D 7 X J 5 1 0 0 0 0 1
There are 17 characters. Starting with first character on left the codes are:
01. "1"= Built in US
02. "G"= General Motors
03. "1"= Chevrolet
04. Denotes the car line: Corvette is a "Y" body.

hmm
great post but how does final decoding of last sequence tell you what month that year the 17 was built... nobody explains it on forums

The sequence number doesn't tell you when it was built. The only way to find that out is to look at the sticker on the door frame, or ask someone with access to GM's Vehicle History system to look it up.
