Our salesperson mentioned including drive belt dressing in my C7 maintenance routine? Do any of you do that? If so, what do you use and how often do you apply it?
Good luck putting it on evenly... check out the 11-pulley system shown in other posts. To put it into perspective I had the original belt on my C5 replaced after 16 years while replacing the failing crank-pulley assembly this summer.
Don't do it!
The GM service manual specifically says NOT to use any belt dressing on serpentine belts or it can cause deterioration.
Belt dressing was designed to prevent slipping of the old V-belts before automatic tensioners, not serpentine belts.
I do suggest you routinely check the belt for cracking, AND check the belt tensioner for signs of hydraulic fluid leakage.
I just had to replace my tensioner.
Note, the old serpentine belts only had ribs on one side of the belt. Now, the belt has ribs on both sides so it can drive pulleys on both sides.
That salesman must have gone to the same training school as the one that told my neighbor that once you put nitrogen in your tires, you can never go back to just using air..

just make sure the dealer put synthetic blinker fluid in and you should be ok
What fluid do you use? Will it make my blinker blink faster?

Thanks TEXHAWK0 for the information. I appreciate your input.
