Default Yellow

I have the 2015 yellow & I know they changed the name after the 2015 year. Does anyone know if they actually changed the color/shade/tinting of the yellow from the 2015 year?

Default Velocity vs Racing Yellow

2014-2015 VY , 2016+ RY. RY appears to be a brighter color

RY is slightly lighter and brighter than VY. You almost need to see it up close to determine if you like it compared to VY. There is an ‘Official Corvette Racing Yellow’ thread on this forum with lots of pics and comparison photos between the two colors.

I have seen the two yellows side by side on a couple of occaisions, the 2016 Corvette Racing Yellow (CRY) versus pre-2016 Velocity Yellow (VY).

I totally agree that CRY is lighter in color. It is not brighter in my opinion, for VY is much more bold, whereas CRY is, in comparison, more toward a pastel yellow.

As color however is in the eye of the beholder, I would recommend you find a CRY at a dealership and decide if it is for you. It is loved by many. Not loved by others — especially by those of us who loved VY.

I am hoping that in 2020 that GM brings out another really bold yellow. Need not be VY, perhaps a Millenium Yellow (maybe under a different name), but something bold please.

Hope these pictures help you to decide.

First two comparison pictures by and thanks to jagamajajaran (with VY on the left and CRY on the right in the first one; with VY being in the foreground and CRY on the back right on the second one);

And the last picture thanks to soluz (with the CRY on the left; VY on the right).

As is obvious from the photos, the two colors are obviously different. The 2016 (Corvette Racing Yellow) is WA-386A. The 2015 (Velocity Yellow) is WA-300N.

Well . since VY was no longer an option I bought my GS in CRY ... as long as the colors aren't side by side you'll forget you like VY better ...

I agree that unless they are side by side the difference is subtle and I'd still get yellow regardless of the model year. I do think it was smart to change to the same yellow that Team Corvette races under and I agree with GM that it is the proper color for a Corvette. Compared to other yellow cars and trucks I see on the road it (CRY and VY) is by far the best shade.

But Corvette RACING Yellow is faster. A proven fact.
