C6- is a lot bigger cockpit / C7 a lot nicer Cockpit
C6 cheaper to mod / C7 cost more to mod (Direct injection and DOD crap)
C6 is older body, cheaper inside / C7 nicer inside, and new looks
C7 you get ALOT of new stuff though that C6 did not like bluetooth, A seats, and stuff.

THe interior isn’t something I’m too concerned with. I’m 6’4”. I did hear that the C6 is a little easier to get in and out of versus the C7. I haven’t sat in the new ones yet to make a comparison. The modification thing is the problem with Dodge. Cost. You have a locked pcm and have to buy a backup one and get that unlocked plus buy the tuner and go from there. That’s about $1000 right there and ya haven’t even done anything. Like I said, I think if I went straight for the Stingray or regular C6 or Grand Sport I’d instantly regret it as I want to be able to bust *** in this thing right off the bat. To me, the manual would obviously be more fun but I’m thinking seriously about the auto because the 8 speed in my Charger is quick and I had a 6 speed Challenger before this. I’ve never been real good at the whole “power shifting” thing I can just shift really quick. I’m ok at it though. I was thinking more along the lines of the ZR1 but if I’m gonna pay $50k plus for one why not go for the C7 Z06? Those are around 65-70k used. Near me. In Missouri. I do like that the C6 is around 3200 pounds though. Versus my land yacht that’s a heft 4500lbs.

I am 6-1, and 235 lbs... I am as big as I ever want to be in a C7. its my 7th vett and its is 100% alot smaller then both C5 or C6.
Not hating I am loving it, but its no joke tight on my fat ***.
I bought it and drove it home 6 hours. So I noticed first off pretty fast. I have become used to it, but again I have the seat all the way back, and reclined, and wheel all the way in... there is no more room to go. and its skinny seated too. just my take.

New 2017 C7 Z06 (big discounts now)
Drive it, as is for now to keep your warranty intact.
You might decide you don't need to mod ...
You can always mod in the future, after you have gotten use to it.

I have had mine less then 2 months, and it went from stock to - blacked out windows and markers, MGW, lowered cut bushings, AFE intake, cam & dod delete, and Kooks headers In that time.

Before I bought my C7, I was considering a C6 Z06. Since I am not one that likes to modify my cars, I decided against buying the C6 Z06 because I didn't want to buy the car, then put extra money into the engine to make sure it didn't explode. You, on the other hand want to buy a car so that you can modify it.

Thank you to everyone who responded and gave feedback. All of it was positive and I like to get other people's take on it. I think I have it narrowed down to either the C6 ZR1 or C7 Z06. I think end game for the car is 800-950rwhp overall. I'm trying to keep the Charger for a little while longer before I jump ship on it as I got it in May of this year. You all are much nicer than the Mopar/Hellcat forums. Which has left a bad taste in my mouth. It's like if you don't have a Hellcat then you're not worthy.

I feel like if I get the Stingray I won't be satisfied with the power.
I own a C7Z and used to have a C6ZR1.
Being that your looking to mod, my vote (in your shoes) goes to a C6ZR1. They are every bit as fast as any other corvette (straight line and except the new ZR1) and can easily be found in the 50's with not even a lot of miles.
They respond great to mods, rare and you wont you have to worry about voiding the warranty. Note-no auto avail with the C6ZR1. Good luck.

I second this. My neighbor is 6'4 as well and doesn't fit well in my Z. He just picked up a great deal on a 17 Hellcat and is going to modding it as well. They are amazing autos as well for street and strip.

I will be buying a Corvette in the very near future, which will be my first one. I currently drive a 2017 Dodge Charger Scat Pack (Don't make fun!) So......here's the thing, whichever one I get, it will be modified for sure. I'd rather have an automatic over the manual, but.....I'm not opposed to it either. So a couple of things. I feel like if I get the Stingray I won't be satisfied with the power. I'd like to get as much feedback on this as possible. Do I go for a C6 ZR1 or Z06 even though they're manual? Or go for the newer C7 Z06 with the 8 speed auto? Let me know what you think, or what would do?

Sometimes newer will be cheaper for the insurance rates. Find cars you like and get the VIN. Call your insurance company to get a price for the specific VIN over the phone. May just be worth it to get newer (even though the C6 looks a whole lot nicer than C7 IMO)
