Rejected because of Vette...

interesting jcs, but that sounds like the shenanigans of a capitalist for profit corporation, not a commie outfit. USAA has lobbyists as well and they broker insurance, also a conflict of interest? I have their card too, although their rates weren't as favorable as Safeco for auto or home.

2020 C8 of the Year Finalist - Unmodified
I've been with USAA since 1969. Over the years, I would occasionally check other sources for quotes and no one was even close to USAA.
We also have our home, and vacation lake home insured with USAA.
Almost 3 years ago, when we swapped out our daily driver for a new Honda Odyssey, I noticed our insurance total premium just seemed quite high. We had a 2013 60th Anniv 427 Vette as well. I started shopping around and found Progressive was about HALF of what USAA was for nearly identical coverage. I pinged Progressive first, as our boat is insured through them, being that USAA partners with Progressive for boats.
I called USAA and spoke with 3 different reps, one of which was a auto policy Manager to describe that I've been with them for over 40 years with NO tickets, NO wrecks for either myself or my wife and bundled 2 homes too. Made no sense to me that they were that much higher.
I went with Progressive for Auto's. Kept the 2 houses with USAA. Each time the policy comes up for renewal, I attempt to go back to USAA more for sentimental reasons and wanting to keep everything in one source, but still NO luck. I'd do it if it were close, but it's about a $300 difference every 6 months.
I don't get it...... they used to always be the hard one to beat.

I have carried State Farm Insurance on my home and cars - including Corvettes - for many, many years. They currently cover both my C7 and my 1962. Good coverage, good rates, and good service throughout all those years.

I've been insuring my Vettes and my house with The Hartford through AARP for 10 years now and no other company has been able to beat their rates so far. Service has always been good, too.
We started with two 2002 C5's and our other cars and now have a Mini Cooper, an Audi Q5, a 2002 C5 and my 2014 M7 2LT Z51 C7 insured through them along with our household. Never an issue.

I have been with State Farm since 1967 for autos, home, and an umbrella policy. A Corvette has low rates with them. I have owned multiple Corvettes, BMWs, and Z-28 Camaros with State Farm coverage. When I check for multiple autos, home, and umbrella policies, they always come out lower for combined coverage.

We use American Modern Insurance Company in Cincinnati, OH. They are A+ rated. We offer Agreed Value Coverage which locks in the value of the vehicle today. That assures you what your payout would be if you had a total loss. Give one of our folks a call at 877.678.7626. We are owned/operated and located inside the National Corvette Museum. We speak Corvette here!

I have both of my vintage Corvettes(56 & 64) insured with State Farm under their agreed value Collector Car insurance, and my C6 Z06 under their regular auto insurance as well as my Mercedes daily driver.
Oh, and my State Farm agent is also a good friend and she has a C5 in addition to her SUV daily driver. She also has them insured with State Farm. Her SO's C3 is also insured with State Farm as well as his pickup truck.
I also know another State Farm agent that has his 1967 435HP 427 roadster insured with State Farm. I'm pretty confident to state as a fact that my State Farm agent, her boy friend, a second State Farm agent, and myself are not the only Corvette owners insured with State Farm.

Going to swap my 88 C4 over to NCM Insurance this month. I was waiting for my current insurance with Grundy to expire. For $100 a year more, total of $278, I can drive it to work a couple of times a week if I want. With Grundy limited to car show usage.

I'd rather that they say: Premium is $10,000 instead of your current $1,000. Then I would respect them a lot more...

Like others have said, " Rejected because of Vette..." can't be the whole story.

I got a quote through AARP for my Stingray but it is not a Z51 equipped car. I have heard of other companies refusing to insure a Z51 or Z06. I have also been with USAA for over 45 years. I do shop around every 3 years or so but have never switched companies. When I factor in the annual subscriber rebate and my senior rebate the net cost with USAA has always been lower than any other quote I have received. USAA's service, at least my experience, has been fantastic.

We got quotes back from all other 6 insurers who we inquired, although at higher rates than USAA. I guess being 30+ yrs members & no tickets/accidents help.
This wouldn't be a story if The Hartford came back with another higher quote like the other insurers. Just wanted to share that we found interesting that Hartford rejected coverage, even a quote, just because we own a Vette...

I have no great love for AARP, but the problem is The Hartford, not AARP. When I was a young man I had three bad experiences with The Hartford. When I had a claim due to a theft of a tape player and damage to my Mustang, they told me not to file because the increase in rates would be more than I would recover. Then when I wanted to buy a Corvette, they told me it had to be in my dad's name and the cost was about 25% of the cost of the car. I picked up a policy from NJM for about half what Hartford wanted, but in my name with WAY better coverage. My dad was with them for over 30 years. As soon as he turned 65, they dumped his car insurance, but were more than willing to continue his home owners, business and investment property insurance. I helped him get insurance with another company.
I've got no use for The Hartford and have not had auto, life or homeowners with them for my entire life since these incidents. They are run by statisticians and bean counters, loyalty means absolutely nothing to them.
