No surprise there, they run 12.1 stock, stock base A8 Stingrays are good for 11.8s in the 1/4 mile. You did well being he was modified- running E85/tune, skinnys up front, R compound drag radials, and the passenger seat removed. If you had the same mods as him and he was stock you would have crushed him.

Looking forwarded to the ‘19 GT500. Competition certainly brings out the best...

Just bought a 18 Mustang GT PP M6 as a new daily driver...The new 5.0 Coyote engine is a freaking good engine....
I prefer this engine to the LT1 of my GS....
Time to start tuning my LT1

lol.
About 15 yrs ago, I was out driving my 3rd 5L Mustang GT. Got smoked by a BMW M3.
That's when I stepped up to my first C5 vert...

It would be my engine of choice if I was building an American dream car.

Sounds perfectly normal. With his mods and Tires to your base, seeing as they are basically the same HP stock and with E85 and mods he's probably got 60 or more bhp on you with the tires...totally expected outcome. the margin of victory was .091...not exactly a Gap situation

Modified vs stock? Apples to oranges.

Looks like your reaction time and 60’ were better than his. Id like to see the dyno numbers on that Mustang. I also wonder how much of an effect that 10 speed transmission had on the performance of the Mustang. Good race!

About 15 years ago the Mustang had a 4.6L (1996-2010MY). Just like the Corvette, the Mustang has greatly improved over the past few decades... and the new M3 ain’t too shabby either.

Lol I like the mod vs stock comments so if he wasn’t modded would it have been a tie or does he lose by a .1?
Plus the Mustang crushed him in MPH, if they went the whole 1/4 it would’ve been decimation.
Here’s one how about 35k vs 65k.........just saying.

Now-a-days, seems like every car manufacturer can (and does) put out a vehicle that compares favorably against competitors. Many even look like a normal family sedan but can turn some very impressive numbers. We live in very interesting times.

Mustang GT prices went up in 2018. 2018 with only the 10speed auto and track pack is about $42K and there are no huge discounts on them yet. It's probably a $6-7K delta between the two cars and the C7 still looks like you paid a lot more inside and outside.
