Default Anyone else having connectivity issues with Apple/Bluetooth?

Fellas,

Took delivery of a 2017 GS in October and have been having technical issues between the iPhone and Infotainment system. Coming from a 2016 Z51, I didn't come across any of these problems in the past.

One of the flaws I've noticed is when I attach the phone to the USB cord coming from the center console. This is when the phone becomes possessed. The phone will lose its display, and I'll see a spinning wheel on the display for minutes at a time. Sometimes it takes so long, I have to unplug the cord. Then the phone comes on, and the Infotainment screen reloads. Sometimes this happens repeatedly.

I was so frustrated last night, I called Verizon Wireless while driving to see if they can give me a quick fix but the phone would switch from car speaker back to the phone itself. Then I have to redial, and it would do it again. I literally called them back four times before it could stay on the speaker. This became so distracting that I had to pull over into a parking lot.

Then there are issues where it plays a random song from my library when I don't want it to.

I've also had issues with my infotainment screen going blank then resetting.

I am currently running IOS 11.2.1 (This happened with my iPhone 6 and now iPhone X). I never had issues like this when I had my 2016 Z51.

I've done a search on this topic, and I'm not alone. Have there been any updates from GM on this or is this an Apple problem? Any quick fixes? If I have to disable something on the phone as a band aid, that's fine. I would prefer to keep the power coming from the center console as I need to see the display for Waze - another frustration since I can't see Waze on the infotainment screen. And no. I'm not looking to replace my phone with an Android.

I have a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and the same phone works like a champ.

First I would make sure you are using an "official" Apple cord. Some non-Apple cords have caused problems. If that doesn't work, next I would find someone else with an iPhone and try it to see if it's is doing the same thing, thus narrowing it down as to whether it's in the car's HMI module/firmware or something in the phone's IOS.
I have had some problems with mine (see link below), but seems to be working fine now and it sounds different from your issues.

FWIW - I just used CarPlay 2 days ago that is updated to IOS 11.2.2, which is the most current, and had no problems using Apple Maps and listening to "I Heart Radio."

Good luck!!

Thanks. Yes, I am using the original Apple cord.

I'll try my friend's iPhone, but if it's the same IOS with no issues, then I'll have no clue what's wrong.

Reading your original post, I see you are using IOS 11.2.1, so might also try updating to IOS 11.2.2, just in case that might fix the issue.
It's worth a try...
