Am buying a 2016 Z51 with the NPP exhaust-picking it up tomorrow.
The outer exhaust pipes have butterfly valves in the that stayed in the open position (at idle or revving up to 2K rpms) in the parking lot) no matter which mode the salesmen put the exhaust in.
When do those valves close?
Also, do all Z51s have the Magna (apologies if mis spelled) suspension, or are they just springs and shocks.
Might have the fuse (#42) pulled to keep the valves open all the time.
Valves might not be connected to wiring harness.
Might be an aftermarket exhaust not tied into car.
To see if your car has mag ride, open the hood and see if there is a wire coming off the top of the shocks. If there is, it has mag ride. You can check the options using the VIN number as well.
MSRC (Magnetic Selective Ride Control) is NOT standard equipment on Z51s. It is an extra cost option. MSRC is more than "just shocks". Performance Traction Management is also included and only available with the MSRC option. Check out the online Owners Manual for a description of Performance Traction Management.
My car does the exact same thing and I bought it brand new off the showroom floor. In order for the valves to close you will need to go into the settings menu on the infotainment system. Settings / Driving Mode / Engine Sound Management. From their you can choose your engine sound. My car is a base car with NPP as the only option.
Idling the car won’t close them. Once up to temperature check them. My guess is that 42 fuse is in the spare slot, not the NPP slot. Who would want a noisy Corvette?
The noise for the most part wouldn’t bother me depending how loud it is cruising on the highway. My wife might be a different story.
I had a 78 Trans Am that I put Flowmasters on and the drone at cruising speed was unbearable. Took them off after a couple months and went with quieter mufflers.

Reason: Spelling

The salesmen and I tried that screen, all the modes, no change in sound, butterfly’s didn’t close.

This, or the fuse being pulled are the most likely reasons.
