This was my experiance with my 2014 Z51. Added GM Splash Guards as soon as I got the car. Rears helped, fronts about useless. The heavy GM plastic covering the rocker panels start at mid door and go up over front of rear wheel wells. GM knew where the problem was! They were getting marked from pebbles. Installed full length LG Motorsports full length side skirts. Stopped all further marking. After a few months removed the marked up and now discolored edges. Sold the car ~3 years later and rocker panels looked new!
Bought a Grand Sport and ordered the Stage 2 aero package to get carbon fiber full length side skirts (mine are painted carbon flash.) At forum poster recommendations also added ACS front splash guards that are wider and deeper than GMm. Also used the GM splash guards in the rear. Stopped all marking!
After 8 months have not only no marks on the rocker panels, have none on the lower rear fender brake cooling duct opening. Looked the other day and the small piece of GM plastic protector installed above the brake duct opening has no marks! When it’s warm, will remove it as the edges are slight discolored already.
Where I drive in our rural area, if I have the radio off (which is seldom) it sounds like a tambourine with the pebbles hitting the skirt bottoms! None hit even the side skirt sides.
For those that don't particularly like the common larger side skirts (like me), these are RPI Stage One skirts that provide protection but are minimalist in design and flow with the side contours of the car.

Walt, yours don't seem wide enough to help. You're saying that these are "enough"? Thanks.........
Most definitely they are wide enough to protect the rear quarter panel. As soon as I installed them over two years ago, I removed the factory clear plastic protector and there is not one mark in that area with over 10,000 miles of operation.

I had Expel on my 2015 Z06. It was worthless. I ordered my 2016 with side skirts and it did the trick. My 18 Z is also ordered with side skirts.
I have 3/4 side skirts and used Xpel over the rear rear wells on a Z06 and Xpel on a lot of other areas and I have ZERO rock chips.
That’s interesting. Do you think you still need to do in front of the rear wheels even though you have a 3/4 rocker? Would a full length rocker do away with the need for Xpel in front of the rear wheel? TIA
I honestly would have had my car Xpeled even if I had full length rockers. I spent $1800.00 dollars on Xpel for my car and I think it is worth every penny since this will be my last Corvette and I wanted to protect her from road rash as much as possible.
