So can the 2018 Mustang GT hang with the 2018 Corvette? They both have 460 HP. I hope not
Probably. So can a lot of cars. In a straight line. A few others can hang with a C7 in the twisties (mostly way more expensive and arguably not nearly as good looking). Mustang vs. Corvette = Apples/Oranges. I've owned 28 Mustangs. Nice cars. A Mustang is not a Corvette.

I just test drove a manual 2018 GT with the performance pack a few hours ago.
To answer your question the Mustang is fast, but my 2016 Z51 felt a half second faster and has noticebly more torque.
That said the 2018 GT w 10 speed automatic is a sub 4 second 0-60 and multiple people have hit high 11's in the quater mile at the drag strip. It's really quick. It would likely be very close on the dragstrip vs the 10 speed with PP1/PP2 package. I might give the edge to the Mustang. On a track the Corvette will be faster.
I was very impressed with the 18 Mustang GT. They bumped up the power, improved the handling (even offer Magride) and made the cabin much nicer.

Given the speed limits on every highway and interstate, I'd say that yep it can hang with the Corvette and so can every other car. Ooops that probably is not what you wanted to hear

Every other car? Maybe not. No I just wondered. My feelings aren't hurt but you just have to be careful not to criticize the CORVETTE too much on some forums owners get testy

Probably, but each motor makes power a bit differently. The Coyote likes to rev and make good power up top whereas the LT1 generates more low end torque. The Corvette is obviously lighter. The new 10 speed is getting good reviews but I like to shift on my own so I would prefer the Tremec-7 speed over the MT82 on the Mustang.

Yea this is not a "knock" but the Mustang just seems a little "crude"

Haven't driven one lately, have you? It's far from "crude." Can it hang with a Vette? Depends on whether it's in a straight line, curves, 0-60, quarter mile, or something else.
It really doesn't matter since there will always be something out there that's faster.

Not at all. the 2018 Ford Mustang GT is a Corvette killer. Gonna trade my Vette in for one now and you better also if you want to get decent value. I don't want to be that loser who gets beat by a Mustang.

Believe it or not, this thread is not in any way original. Most of the time they are started by someone who is trolling. That is why I reacted in this way.

Hang with? At a dragstrip? On a road course?
The internet is your friend, but the short answer is no and no.
Otherwise there are no shortage of proper independent tests showing 526hp GT350s not posting better acceleration times than a C7, and nothing close in terms of lap times, so how would the revised 460hp GT be better? The new 10spd. auto tranny will certainly help their times, but with much less torque and about 4-500 extra pounds over a C7, it's not likely.

What do you mean by crude?
If I am being honest the 2018 Mustang seats are more comfortable, the sightlines are better, and the cabin is very quiet. With the new digital dash and Sync 3 system it is a nice place to be. They also offer things like blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise, etc.
The Mustang is a better daily driver, but even with the performance pack 1 option it is not going to handle like the Corvette or have as much low end torque.
It's definitely not crude though. In all honesty I would take one over an Audi or BMW.
I think the weight of the 2 cars and the gear ratios would help determine which is faster-I don't know how the Mustang stacks up to the vette in these 2 factors.

Fast and good car, and even if it was faster I wouldn't really care. The C7 is just more fun.
I thikn the 10 speed auto Mustang vs 7 speed manual C7 would be a very close race in the 1/4 mile. I would probably give the Mustang the edge. Like I said people are running high 11's.
The unkonwn here will be Ford Performance upgrades you buy through authorized dealers that let you keep your factory warranty. For a couple thousand you may be able to hang/beat a C7 in any type of straighline speed race.
While it is true, that the new Mustang and Stingray now have the same rated horsepower, the Mustang has always been a young man's hot rod, IMO.
As such, and unlike most Corvettes, a stock Mustang generally does not exist in nature.
I left the Mustang world for my first Corvette and will never go back. But power, performance and especially the handling has improved dramatically.
Add the readily available Mustang aftermarket bolt-ons and you might think twice before taking on that Mustang at the next light. Advantage Mustang.
In anything other than straight line, the driver becomes the relevant factor. Equal drivers, Advantage Corvette
