Default Extended warranty?

Hi guys.

I am new to the Corvette world having just sold my last street rod, I am buying my first Corvette tomorrow. It being a 2014 with 9000 miles, Z51 package and a 3LT interior. The factory warranty is expired and I am on the fence about an extended warranty for $1495.00 which covers me for an additional 3 years and 36,000 miles

Opinions?

It's not from a shady 3rd party and my thought was one electronic issue and the warranty pays for itself.

Appreciate any opinions and guidance.

I had a C5 with a extended warranty it covered a Crossover problem and a fuse box problem 2100.00 and 500.00 and peace of mind. Paid 1400.00 and got 600.00 back for balance after trading in on 17 . So I was ahead on that one. I bought a 17 GS and when the warranty gets to around final 4 months I will be buying extended warranty for 17. The 17 has more gadgets to go wrong so I will purchase for peace of mind. I'm planning on keeping car for a while.

The way I look at it these cars are super technology on wheels. Even a minor failure could be really $$$$$.
IMHO a warranty is piece of mind.

Good idea but wait until about a month until the 3 year or mileage mark.

Most people buy it for piece of mind and the old what if factor. Bottom line few use it and it is a great money maker for the sellers. Save your money.

Get a price from Fichtner, then get a price from your local dealer. My local dealer beat Fichtner by multiple hundreds without knowing Fichtner's price for the exact same warranty. It can pay to shop around.

With the number of electronic and high tech stuff on the C7, an extended warranty would be a high priority for me.

Is it relatively the same price if you wait until close to the 3 year mark?

Depends. There is a BIG price increase if you buy after the car hits 10,000 miles. I bought my extended warranty just before hitting 10,000 miles and saved a whopping 40% ($1000.00). It’s called the mileage penalty.

Well I talked with Dennis who by the way is a great guy and super responsive, he confirmed my dealer was selling the warranty for $100 over cost.

As much as I wanted to give Dennis my business I felt like the dealer deserves it for being one of the few honest ones.

So I have a 2015 C7 in the exact color I wanted (red), with a Z51 package and 3LT package coming home this weekend for under $45k (including warranty and under 9000 miles)

Thanks for the advice fellas and I’m glad to be one of you all.
