Is Your 'Vette a Sports Car?
Because debates are fun and never tick anyone off, we offer a handy, not-entirely-serious, point-by-point investigatory rundown of the arguments for and against your car being a real and true sports car.

I don't really see the reason for a point to point rundown - a Vette is definitely a sports car - actually it is more or less the definition of a sports car IMO.
If a Corvette is not a sports car then I don't understand what the hell a sports car even is.

Actually for me there is just a bit of truth in that statement.
Let's be more generous though - it is still a sports car but with a slight disability.
That way we can be all PC - which is very important on this thread from my experience. LOL

If a Corvette isn't a sports car I don't know what is.

If you want to learn how to really drive well on the track, you'd be hard pressed to find anything better than a Miata. The are remarkably great handling cars, and there's a reason they consistently appear in car mag "10 best" lists.
Sports cars are not just about big power, and learning how to drive well in a powerful sports car is not the best way to begin. I'd bet most professional race drivers in a Miata could easily best the average Corvette owner on almost any road course.

I remember back in my younger days when I had my first new vette (2000 Coupe) and was just getting into the auto x scene. I thought I was king **** and was going to mop up on everyone/thing there... I remember a prepped miata quickly putting me in my place and educating me about mass and tires on a short tight circuit.

When I was doing a lot of SCCA autocross in my Lotus Elise, the C6 Z06 and my Lotus were both in the Super Stock class. I also had a C6 Z06 at the same time, but I always took my Lotus racing because I was much faster in it.
Lotus won the SCCA SS National Championship a couple of times besting the Z06. Often in sports cars, it's more about the driver and handling than HP and TQ.

Me neither!
And to answer the question....I never realized that it was even a question! Unless one is really Old School where sports cars are supposed to be uncomfortable, noisy is a bad way, open to the elements, manual-only transmissions, black wheels , and zero amenities like radios and heaters.
