Say a guy missed the boat on the Carbon65, but managed to snag one of the last 19 ceramic matrix Z06s. Could he hang out with you guys in your corner of CF? Just asking for a friend

So my recent purchase of #342 has already hit a snag. Back right cracked rim. May have come that way from the dealer (back right rim had slight road rash that they fixed prior to sale. Conversation with dealer is pending.) I’m reading about the horror show that is corvette rims... worth it to go aftermarket and just avoid future headaches? Anyone have any recommendations? I’m clueless on this so thanks in advance.

Personally, I'm lucky, no rim issues on my 19Z yet, but I'd probably look at Forgelines myself. Reach out to Paul from PK Auto. He's a vendor here. Very knowledgeable. I've bought several sets from him for other cars. Price and service are awesome.

I consider myself fortunate to own this....Less than typical carbon 65. Convertible, carbon ceramic brakes, Z06, Stage 3 aero package, and its a GM pilot so the factory dash plaque indicates “000 of 650“. The VIN indicates this was the 17th car produced off the line. Can you get more rare? I’ll probably go to the grave in this car!

Using the Corvette Black Book as a reference (BTW- the black book is awesome for stuff like this), for deciphering the Vin number, it’s noted that 645 carbon 65’s were produced with VIN code “J53” (10-12 digit). A VIN with “J55” indicated a Z06 pilot. So to answer your question, 645 cars received a dash plaque numbered 001-650, and 5 all got 000 of 650. My car is one of the 5 pilot cars with the Carbon 65 option numbered 000. Typically GM will produce pilot cars for either marketing purposes or for executives to drive. Because my car had about 800 miles on it when sold, I suspect it was used for photo shoots ....or the executive assigned the car .....didn’t drive it.
