Default Gorilla lug nuts

anyone else have a problem with rust? Mine started developing slight surface rust a few months ago, came home after not seeing the car for over a month, I had left it outside and it looked like this 😨

I have one Gorilla locking lug nut per wheel but they are still shiny chrome. No smallest rust on them. The car does sit outside a lot.

While I do not have them installed on my Vette, I’ve had them installed on other vehicles without any issues. Not sure where you purchased them, but I suspect that they were either repackaged, or that you were duped. If purchased from a reputable vendor, or directly from the manufacturer, I’d say that an exchange would be warranted.

I use their locks and have no problems but I park inside. It wouldn't hurt to call Gorilla Locks and send them a picture of the locks. I forgot what their warranty is and it might just be covered.

Black ones 3.5 years old now, look fine but I'm in FL, no road salt and garage kept.

Mine are on their second Corvette and second set of wheels.
I bought them for the Cray Hawks on my C6 and now the hold on my black OEM wheels.
They look as good as the day I installed then.

Were yours installed with an impact?
It looks like some of the coatings have been chipped.

My wheel do look nasty like that... Maybe I should find time to watch my car. Nah!

Did you buy yours on ebay? From my experience THAT is abnormal and faulty. If genuine G's you need to contact them.

Just out of curiosity, how old are the ones pictured???

I forgot to mention, the locking lug nuts are 10 year olds now. Just checked. Some brake dust but no rust. Meanwhile brake rotors have rust on them.
I believe I bought from amazon. They were in a sealed plastic package.

I have a set on my Corvette now and I've had them on a few cars previously, including a Jeep that saw a lot of driving on the beach as well as driving on salty roads. I never had rust on them. That's one reason I keep buying them.

These were mine on my C6 after around 5 years and the car sitting outside every day. So they will rust. No big deal. Replace them for around $45.

I bought some lovely titanium lug bolts for my 911 back in the day. STUPID EXPENSIVE.

But gorgeous. They never rust. I took them off and sold them to a friend before I sold the car.

Wow, that’s crazy. However, your wheel looks pretty corroded as well. Does it receive a lot of sea water/spray? Your location says the “West coast of Canada”, if you’re right next to the coast that might explain the corrosion.

And the wheel is filthy so they were probably hardly ever washed.

Yes genuine gorilla, sent a message out to them, should hear back Monday, I live right near the water, and they do salt the roads, wheels are just dirty do have the odd rock chip but they won't rust try not to drive it much this time of year tho, wheels do need a good cleaning, rained on me when I took it out the other day, have impacted the rears off once I believe, not on, they're all like that now tho, coming up on 3 years old I'm guessing

Gorilla said these were the worst he's personally ever seen, suggested I try their chrome lugs as they'll last longer.... only reason I went with them is because they're black, I guess 5 weeks near the waterfront was the last straw for the coating on these things, gorilla will only warranty for a year, good to know! Haven't seen any issues with the stock ones so looks like I'm better off that way, painting them will probably last about the same amount of time too so may just go that route

Disappointed to hear their "get lost" response. Not too bright of them. They're a suspect brand now, with that response.
