Default Security system rearm delay

I after I shut the passenger door for my wife, just as I walk around the C7 and am reaching for the driver's door handle, the security system arms itself. I never have sufficient time to walk around and open the door. Then I have to pull the door handle a few times for the car to finally unlock. Bummer.

Does anyone know how to lengthen the duration of time before the system arms itself? I don't want to have to reach into my pocket and manually unlock the door with the key fob. Thanks.

Let her shut the door herself.

It's 8 seconds... more than enough for me to walk around the car to open the door for her.

Get your cane ready before you shut her door...

That's the passive door lock option. You can turn it off. It does not affect the passive door unlock (proximity). Radio-->Settings-->Vehicle-->Passive Door Lock. I just disabled mine after thinking I wanted it.

That part doesn't sound right, ours opens on the first pull regardless of how long ago it locked.
You might try installing new fob batteries to see if that helps.

^^^^ I agree, replace the fob battery. No matter how fast the auto lock activates, no matter how fast the system arms itself, with fob in hand or pocket the door will open on first try. Provided you are pressing the door switch properly, as some passengers in my car have failed to do at times.

seriously, it sounds like a fob battery problem.

Agree on the battery, the car is losing the signal from your key fob as your going around the back of the car and locking.. once I changed my fob battery I can walk 40 feet away before it locks

Perhaps that feature works differently on different year. I know that my '15 will auto lock within the 8 seconds as soon as the door closes no matter what. Fob battery is new. It will not wait till I walk away.

OK, so I found a locksmith that will code my new lock cylinder to the original ignition key. I will install it and see if the chime continues to sound off when I open the drivers door key out of the ignition. Ill let you all know what the result is.

A five year old thread that doesn't seem to relate to your statement, since C7s don't have an ignition key!!!!!!!!!!!
