How many even think about changing coolant?

I didn't change the coolant in my C5 until it was ten years old and had over 100k on it. I had no problems at all with the cooling system, and kept that car until it had 133k on it. I doubt I will push things that far in my C7, but it's nice to know that Dexcool really isn't as bad as many have made it out to be.

Thought this was going to start like a good friend (none Vette owner) who keeps cars 10 years and doesn't change coolent!
GM's recommendation good enough for me, I assume it is a conservative! However 5 years is about time for a new Vette! As it approaches I'm sure, God willing, it will be a C8 first!

Well, this thread has caused me to re-consider my maintenance. So, one more question:
What do yo do with the green "mix with everything" coolants? 2 years or 5 years?
Also, what about the manufacturer-only coolant, like the blue coolant in my Honda Accord? Just go with the owner's manual recommendation?
Have a good one,
Mike

If ownership is say 5 yrs or less dexcool and forget about it
Long term I flush all that stuff out (block too) and add green prestone
I dont know how the ends of the heater core are on the vette but every GM truck ive seen where it had old dexcool the plastic ends just fall off they get brittle and eaten up by that stuff.
Some of the flushing schedules imo are overkill...never flushed a ps in my life brake system only 2x
