ZO7 Package?

ZO7 Package?
I am thinking of trading my 2017 Grand Sport for a 17 ZO6. I found 2 identical cars, one with the ZO7 package and one without. If I do not track the car, do I really need the package? Please advise...Thank you

If no track time, then no. It's a waste if you're not going to track it. $4000 in rotors alone for a brake job. The only benefit you will see is next to no brake dust. If that's worth the difference in price to you then go for it.

Started with a Z06 and moved "up" to one with the Z07 option. It may be a waste but I like it. I did notice a slightly nicer ride without the option.

If the only benefit you hope to get is reduced brake dust, it would be a weeee bit cheaper to go non-Z07 and swap for a set of Carbotech brake pads instead.

It depends on the MSRP, if it was a $125,000 optioned car, then not a good deal. Look at what the percentage off is to determine if it is priced right. New 19's can be ordered at 11%-13% off. Dealers are starting to get in 19's in a reasonable number and remember you can get those from stock discounted also.

If you are tracking CCB's may seem like the way to go for heat management --- but a lot of track rats prefer iron brakes because they are more durable and way cheaper to run.
On the street, CCB's offer no discernible value other that cosmetic appearance --- the iron brakes are easily more than adequate. If dusting is a concern, changing out the pads is to something like Carbotech or Powerstop is the most cost effective way to go.

I just ordered a GS with Z07 package. Minimal brake dust and zero rotor corrosion is what sold me plus they look awesome. I doubt I'll ever have to replace the rotors.

Ironically, CCBs are better for street than track. At the track, the rotors evaporate, and you need to weigh them after the events to make sure they're still strong. Besides the huge replacement cost, having to weigh them would be annoying.
At the street, they never overheat, so rotors practically last the life of the car and GM pads are not bad for street braking when cold, either.

Non track-time car... a waste, imho.

"650HP is just about right but the Z07 option is wasted on a street car" is a common belief around here
The most fun I ever have seems to be based on wasting money. Waste it or leave to your estate whatever makes you smile.

IMO it’s a “you know you want it or not” thing.
