Default Add MSRC after purchase?

I just bought a new 2017 C7 with Z51 package but not MSRC. It feels very stiff over small bumps and road seems fill with black top. Is it possible to have MSRC added now after purchase? If so can the local chevy dealer add this or who can add this?
Thank

That would be quite an undertaking and most likely fairly costly.

It would be nearly impossible, and way too costly. If MSRC is a must, then it would be cheaper to trade your car in for a Vette that is equipped with MSRC.

I got a tremendous deal on the vette - 25% off. So I willing to pay a fair amount for MSRC. Is this something a local chevy dealer could do? If not who could? Thanks

I have yet to hear of anyone who has added MSRC to their car after the fact. If you could find someone willing to add all the parts and change all the computers involved, I would be willing to bet it would cost $10 to 15,000 or more.

Why didn't you just purchase a C7 with it? There's plenty of them out there. I like my MSRC but if I didn't have it I wouldn't even consider having it added.

No, it's not practical. It's not just a matter of adding the shocks and MSRC controller, you'd have to practically take it apart and rewire the entire car, and then figure out how to get all the software programmed and in synch with all the other systems.

Thanks for the input. Given I have the Z51 package, and I plan to use the track a little, but I want to tour some also and enjoy the ride m, what would you recommend to soften the ride touring with my wife? Thanks

Michlen PSS Non-run flats or any non-run flat (continental etc.) would help a bit, but then you are without the protection of a RF tire. I carry a plug kit and a slime kit as I put on MPSS AS3+ last year.

Even if you wanted to spend the $$$ to accomplish this, I can't imagine trusting a GM dealership service department to take apart a brand new car's entire suspension and hope to get it right.

The suspension is the probably easy part. It's the integration of the MSRC electronics into software and the interface with all the other systems it interacts with via the console control ****. Non-MSRC cars have a different wiring harness and software.

No! Besides the hardware, i.e. shocks, small sensors on each A Frame that tell the computer what each wheel is doing (see pic,) it all has to be integrated into the computer with all signals coming from the sensors connected etc.

FWIW, I had a C7 Z51 without MRC and the ride "stiffness" was not much different than my Grand Sport, which comes with MRC, set at Touring- the "softest" setting.

Set at Sport the Grand Sport is "stiffer" than my Z51 without MRC! That matches what Tadge stated in 2014 when asked that question at a Bash! Hard to make a very large sway bar, stiff springs and a rear sway bar (not on the base car) ride like a Cadillac!

Have not gotten by MRC software upgrade yep so reserve judgment but hoping it will allow me to drive in Sport for the other features such as less nannie control.

Look at the advantages you have! You can set it for any Mode and NOT affect the ride but can get a stiffer steering feel, faster throttle response, more or less nannie control etc! I drove the Z51 always in Sport mode and to get the same faster throttle response in my 2017 would have to drive in Track Mode. That will rattle your teeth even on our relatively good roads in Eastern SC. I added a Vitesse Throttle Controller to get back to what I had!

When I had to make a fast maneuver on the Interstate to avoid an 18 wheeler tire tread, the Z51 handled like a Go Kart. Made a similar maneuver with the Grand Sport set at Touring and it was good but not "as good" a transient response. Perhaps it was me and that specific move to avoid an 18 wheeler tire tread but I will be happier if I can drive with the Grand Sport in Sport Mode after the MRC software update. When set at Track for some fast turns it is great but I only do that occasionally no time when needed for a quick transient like a deer crossing the road!

With MGC, each "A" frame has a wheel position sensor.

I'd put some Koni Sports on er which are adjustable, if that didn't quite do it then I'd go with springs from a base along with the Koni's and ditch the run-flats. Be a lot cheaper than trying to put the MSRC in or trading the car. imho anyway, something to think about.

^^^

But I would start with the tires as others report non run flats have a softer ride.

The 45 mm Bilsteins on the Z51 are stiffer than the 36 mm on the base car but are matched with the springs. Ones that are adjustable could be a solution as well. Have coilovers on all 4 corners of my Street Rod and adjustable front shocks. When exceeding 100 mph definitely want the stiffest setting. But too stiff for my usual trips to car shows so set about mid range.

Springs would be last, if needed. As Tadge stated the base car has the softest ride, as you would expect.

A completely orthogonal suggestion, you may want to try a seat cushion - you will be amazed at how effective they are in preventing the ride harshness from reaching your back. For example:

Track PTM gives you the same advantages and more. Track/PTM Wet is Tour Mode. Track/PTM Dry is Sport mode. You don't get PTM without MSRC.

Yep but the OP doesn’t have MRC and depending where he lives the 45 mm Bilteins can be fine, perhaps with non run flat less stiff sidewalls. I was very pleased with the ride where I live without MRC and OEM tires.

Forgeddibout it. Cost you a ton, you'll never get back when you unload it. Trade it for one with mag ride. Just accept you screwed up and move on.

I have a Z51 w/o mag ride, like yours. After a while you won't even really pay attention to the ride quality. This car is so much fun to drive that a few bumps here and there won't bother you.

I wouldn't be so quick to modify the car or to trade it. Live with it for a while and figure out what you like and what you don't like. After a couple years, if you still feel that the car is lacking, just trade it in for one that is optioned the way you want.

I realize that, but you implied he had an advantage by not having MSRC, because changing driving mode didn't affect suspension, hence the observation that you can do the same thing w/ PTM.
